The food-focused musical, The Most Beautiful Room in New York City recently opened at New Haven's Long Wharf Theatre, bringing with it a tasty tale of love, family, and sacrifice.

The story revolves around a local chef, David Kaplan (Matt Bogart) who finds himself in a dilemma: how to afford his restaurant's expensive lease increase. His passion for bringing people together around the table and his need to provide for his family has David searching for all options, including one he's not too thrilled about. In efforts to save his family-run restaurant, David reaches out to a former friend and current hot shot celebrity, Sergio (Constantine Maroulis) for help.

But Sergio has ideas of his own about running a successful restaurant, including making everything bigger and bolder, which means David's homey venue, Table is a thing of the past. Throughout this struggle, David finds himself in a challenge of his life that could possibly cost him more than his restaurant, but his family as well.

Mixed with heartfelt emotion and real-life drama, The Most Beautiful Room in New York City speaks to the audience in a fun but sentimental way. A must-see with songs relating around dining, family, and life, this new theatre production stemmed from writer Adam Gopnik and director Gordon Edelstein makes for delicious time out with the ones you love.
