New York City-based Production Company, The Glass Eye, is bringing their tour of William Shakespeare's The Tempest to Playhouse on Park on Friday, August 11 at 8pm and Saturday, August 12 at 1pm.

The Tempest is one of Shakespeare's most beloved plays. A father's gambit, a monster's revenge, a first kiss, and few idiots - tossed together and ripped apart by a ferocious storm. Written at the end of his career, it holds beautiful text, complex characters, and provocative ideas.
Founded in 2012, The Glass Eye is a up-and-coming Production Company founded on the ideas that truth in art is king and collaboration builds the castle. The Glass Eye presents new works as well as new perceptions of established pieces that elevate and illustrate truth. The objective is to harness and combine the talents of individuals to create a performance that is greater than the sum of its parts.

This August, The Glass Eye's Artistic Director, Kyle Metzger, is pleased to present The Tempest. This striking production will sweep you away to an island brimming with mystical music and fearsome creatures, featuring music by Tim Duncheon and Anna Stefanic, and introducing exuberant costumes by Max Archimedes Levitt. The Glass Eye's Tempest is inspired by Venice street musicians and Commedia Dell'arte. These classical influences form the off-beat, wriggly backbone of the story.

The Tempest stars returning company members Zach Schute as Prospero. Playhouse patrons will remember Veronique Hurley as Caliban, who starred in Around the World in 80 Days, Bunnicula and Charlotte's Web. New to The Glass Eye company are Lindsey Austen as Ariel, Starr Kirkland as Miranda, Rocio Mendez as Stephano/Sebastian, Nick DeMarco as Ferdinand, Kim Gant as Alonso, and Colleen Welsh as Trinculo/Antonio (who will be appearing in the Playhouse Mainstage Season Nine opener, Avenue Q).

This event is BYOB. All tickets are $25 each, all seats reserved. Student rush is also available, at $10 per ticket.
