The Center Stage Theatre in Shelton, Connecticut recently announced its upcoming 2010/2011 season featuring well-known shows like Disney's BEAUTY AND THE BEAST and FIDDLER ON THE ROOF.

The season kicks off in June with the 1939 Kaufman and Hart classic, THE MAN WHO CAME TO DINNER, the story of SheriDan Whiteside, theatre critic and radio personality. He arrives to dine at the home of the prominent Stanley family in a small Ohio town, but slips on their doorstep, injuring his hip. A tumultuous six weeks of confinement follows, during which Whiteside monopolizes the living room and takes over the Stanley household, entertaining a variety of eccentric guests. Before it's over, the outrageous has become commonplace.

In July, Youth CONNection brings Disney's smash hit, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST to the stage at Shelton High School. Based on the Academy Award winning animated feature by the same name, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST is the story of Belle, a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast, who is really a young prince trapped in a spell placed on him by an enchantress. If the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will end and he will be transformed to his former self. But time is running out.

In October 2010, Center Stage Theatre will bring audiences ON GOLDEN POND. For nearly 50 years, Norman and Ethel Thayer have spent summers in a cabin on Golden Pond.

Sharp-tongued Norman is approaching his 80th birthday and flirting with senility and frail health while his devoted wife Ethel, ten years younger, is still agile and energetic. When their daughter, Chelsea, comes to visit, she brings along her dentist boyfriend and his adolescent son, as well as long-harbored ill-feelings toward her father. Chelsea and her boyfriend go to Europe, leaving the boy with Ethel and Norman, who soon develop a close relationship with him that helps restore some of Norman's lost vigor and confidence. The 1981 film version starred Katherine Hepburn, Henry Fonda and real life daughter Jane. Both a light-hearted comedy and touching drama, ON GOLDEN POND celebrates the triumphs of life, love and family.

The season will continue with MIRACLE ON 34TH STREET in November, FIDDLER ON THE ROOF in January, and TWELVE ANGRY MEN in March.

More specific dates will be announced soon.
