For students who love to perform, Playhouse on Park is offering a two week, full-day musical theatre program this summer. The aim of this program is to guide performers entering grades 3-8 to develop strong technique and performance skills in acting, music, and movement.

This program, titled the Young Actor Musical Theatre Preparatory Program, gives older elementary and middle school students theatre instruction in a comfortable and professional setting. Every day, students will have a schedule of classes in acting, music, and movement, plus rehearsals for their final showcase, where they will be featured in all three disciplines. Students will also have opportunities to develop and perform their own pieces. The faculty for this program includes Dawn Loveland, Kevin Barlowski, and Hillary Ekwall. Students will also participate in master classes with visiting Broadway artists, including Janelle Robinson (Mary Poppins, Oklahoma, Showboat) and Joel Newsome (The Producers, 42nd Street). They will also have a chance to learn from the cast of the Playhouse on Park summer musical, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. Upon completion of the program, students should have the skills to create a compelling and engaging musical theatre performance.

Registration is required; class size is limited, and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
