The Opera House Players, Inc., based in Broad Brook, CT, was recognized with a number of theater awards at the Massachusetts Critics Circle Awards held at the Majestic Theater in June. The community theater's production of "Monty Python's Spamalot" was honored with awards for:

Best Musical

Best Director of a Musical (Sharon FitzHenry)

Best Featured Actor (Tim Reilly)

Best Costume Design (Moonyean Field)

Best Choreography (Melissa Dupont)

Best Set Design of a Musical (Heather Turner, Dawn Bird, Sharon FitzHenry).

The award for Best Actor in a Musical went to Brad Shepard for his role as Tevye in the Opera House Players' production of "Fiddler on the Roof."

The Opera House Players also received these award nominations from the Onstage Critics Circle:


Outstanding Hair & Makeup (Spamalot)

Outstanding Ensemble in a Musical (Spamalot)

Outstanding Director of a Musical (John Pike - The Spitfire Grille)

Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Musical (Anne Collin - The Spitfire Grille)

Outstanding Actress in a Musical (Kate Suppes - The Spitfire Grille)

Outstanding Musical (The Spitfire Grille)

Rehearsals are underway for the group's 2015-2016 season opener "She Loves Me" which will run September 11 - 27 at the Broad Brook Opera House, 107 Main Street, Broad Brook, CT. Also being produced this season will be "Man of La Mancha" (November), "Avenue Q" (February, 2016), and "Into the Woods" (May, 2016).
