NINE WIVES Runs Now thru 7/27 at TriArts Sharon Playhouse
TriArts Sharon Playhouse, under the leadership of Artistic Director John Simpkins and Managing Director Justin Ball, presents a developmental production of the new musical Nine Wives from today, July 24-27 at their Stage 2 space in the Bok Gallery.
Nine Wives features music and lyrics by Douglas J. Cohen (No Way to Treat A Lady, The Gig) and book and lyrics by Dan Elish (13); based on the novel, "Nine Wives," by Dan Elish.
James Penca (Fringe Festival Save the Date), Jason SweetTooth Williams (Bloodsong of Love) and Sarah Cline (TriArts Les Miserables) star. John Simpkins directs. Eric Kang is music director.
Nine Wives tells the story of Henry Mann, a 32-year-old bachelor who discovers that the love of his life has met someone new and is about to get married. What's worse, he's been invited to her wedding! What follows are Henry's frantic attempts to find a woman he can take as his date - a potential future wife - to prove to his ex-fiancée (and the world) that he too is ready to move on.
The production is designed by Caleb Levengood (scenery), Jamie Roderick (lighting), Michelle Eden Humphrey (costumes), and Brad Berridge (sound). Katie Marchant is production stage manager.
Nine Wives is part of a Sharon Playhouse initiative to develop and produce new musicals at every stage of the development process. Year round readings and workshops supplement the summer season, which includes a full production in the newly converted Stage 2 theatre space.
The Sharon Playhouse is located at the foot of the Berkshires in idyllic Sharon, CT, and just a few minutes from the Metro North (Wassaic) train station. Performances are Wednesday through Sunday (performance times vary). Single Tickets ($15-$47) are on sale now. Subscriptions run $40 - $110.
