Music Mountain Welcomes Amernet String Quartet Next Month

America's Longest Running Chamber Music Festival, Music Mountain, continues its 88th season with the remarkable Amernet String Quartet with guest artist Vivek Kamath, Viola, performing an all-Beethoven program on Sunday, September 10 (3pm). The music begins on Saturday, September 9 (6:30pm) with The Galvanized Jazz Band playing the best of Dixieland and New Orleans Jazz! Concerts are scheduled thru September 17.

Saturday evening welcomes the intoxicating Galvanized Jazz Band! The Galvanized Jazz Band is a dynamic group of Connecticut musicians devoted to the energetic performance of hot dixieland, New Orleans jazz, blues, rags, stomps, struts, spirituals, swing, and classic popular songs from the past century. Always in demand, the band performs at Jazz Festivals from Maine to New Orleans and throughout Europe, in addition to public concerts, private parties, weddings, funerals, school programs and fund-raising events! Recognized by Connecticut Magazine as "Best Jazz Band in the State," the Galvanized Jazz Band has thrilled generations of fans since 1971!

Keeping with long-standing tradition, the Saturday Twilight Series features pre-concert dinners at the quaint Falls Village Inn. Experience a piece of history in this 175-year-old Inn before dancing to the joyful sounds Dixieland!

Amernet String Quartet with guest artist Vivek Kamath, Viola, offers an all-Beethoven program on Sunday afternoon. The distinctive program will feature: Piano Sonata #8 in C Minor, Opus 13 "Pathétique" (1798), arranged for String Quartet (2016) by Jeffery Briggs (1957- ); String Quartet in F Major, Opus 135; and Viola Quintet in C Major, Opus 29 "Storm."

Praised for their "intelligence" and "immensely satisfying" playing by The New York Times, the Amernet String Quartet has garnered recognition as one of today's exceptional string quartets. The Amernet's performance schedule has taken the quartet across the Americas and to Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. They have collaborated with many of today's most prominent artists and ensembles, appeared at major festivals around the world, and frequently conduct workshops and master classes throughout the US. The Amernet actively advocates for neglected works of the past and aims to enliven the concert experience through its innovative programming. The Quartet's current season includes tours throughout Europe and Latin America as well as the premieres of several new works for quartet and return engagements throughout the US and Israel.

Violist Vivek Kamath has appeared as soloist with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra and the Metamorphosen Chamber Orchestra. An avid chamber musician, he has performed at the Marlboro, Ravinia, Sarasota, Blossom, and Bowdoin festivals. Mr. Kamath is a member of the prestigious New York Philharmonic.

Music Mountain is located in Falls Village, Connecticut on Music Mountain Road, where a short scenic drive will bring you to GorDon Hall atop Music Mountain. Free parking and picnic facilities are available.

Chamber music concerts conclude with Juilliard String Quartet (September 17).

The Saturday Evening Twilight Series concludes with Jive By Five (September 16).

Saturday evening pre-concert dinner at the intimate Falls Village Inn (5pm) is $70. Ticket includes dinner & concert. Seating is limited; reservations must be made 24 hours prior to concert date.

Tickets for the closing concert on Sunday, September 17 (3PM) with The Juilliard String Quartet are $60.

Chamber Music Concerts are $35. Twilight Series Concerts are $30. Children ages 5-18 are admitted FREE for ALL CONCERTS when accompanied by a ticket holder. Saturday Twilight Concerts are at 6:30pm.
