Opening night of the Tony Award-winning musical, Fun Home was a success at The Bushnell, bringing the crowd out of their seats for a standing ovation.

The story based on Alison Bechdel's graphic novel, follows the life of a cartoonist looking to go back in time and explore her unique childhood. We see Alison as a young girl (Carly Gold) growing up in Pennsylvania, as a college freshmen (Abby Corrigan) experimenting with her sexuality, and as an adult (Kate Shindle) uncovering the family secrets that have led up to where she is today.

As a child her relationship was always rocky with her father and over the years, Alison tries to understand him better while learning she might have more in common with him than she ever thought.

A gripping story of family and the problems they hold, Fun Home is a sincere tale of growing up and understanding where you came from. With powerful lyrics and the occasional laugh-out-loud ballads, "Changing My Major" and "Come to the Fun Home," this show grabs your attention and your heart.

Catch Fun Home at The Bushnell until June 25th.
