Beginning on Wednesday, December 5th, 2012, Playhouse on Park presents the Pulitzer Prize and Academy Award winning tale of friendship and life, Driving Miss Daisy.

Written by Alfred Uhry, Driving Miss Daisy is a compassionate and humorous story of the unlikely friendship between an elderly Jewish woman and her soft-spoken, African-American chauffeur in the 1940's Deep South. Beginning in 1948, the odd-couple's friendship develops despite their differences and a society plagued with racial strife. As their bond strengthens, the audience explores the depth of humanity and growing older through a series of compelling and emotional scenes.

Directed by Stevie Zimmerman (Playhouse on Park's "Collected Stories" and "Love Letters"), the production stars Playhouse On Park debutants, Waltrudis Buck ("Painting Churches", "Leading Ladies" at The Barnstormers, the Long Wharf Theatre's "Uncle Vanya", and numerous major motion picture productions) as Daisy, Marvin Bell (St. Louis Black Repertory Company's production of "Brownville Raid" and David Mamet's "Edmond") and Bristol Pomeroy ("That is How I Left" at The Living Theater/New York's International Fringe Festival, "Blue for Mr. Charlie" at The National Black Theater in Harlem, and "On a Darkling Plain" at New York's Shell Theater).

The shows run begins with preview performances on Wednesday, December 5th, and Thursday, the 6th, before opening officially on Friday, December 7th. The Opening Night performance will be preceded by a complimentary wine and cheese reception for patrons to enjoy from 7:00pm to 8:00pm and a Talk Back with the cast and director will follow the Sunday December 9th, 2012 matinee.
