Five new faces are joining the CATCO family for the 2016-17 season.

The Columbus-based professional Equity theater company announced via press release the appointment of five new apprentices, several of whom hail from Ohio universities.

CATCO's apprenticeship program "is designed to help recent college graduates bridge the gap between the academic and professional worlds," according to the company's website. The full-season, full-time experiences are paid positions offered in the fields of artist education, carpentry, lighting/sound and stage management.

"CATCO and CATCO is Kids are excited to welcome these extremely talented apprentices and look forward to working with them in our productions and in our education and outreach programs," CATCO producing director Steven C. Anderson said in the press release.

According to the release, the apprentices participate in classes and workshops with CATCO staff, have the opportunity to perform in CATCO and CATCO is Kids productions and aid in "technical theatre and administrative assignments" throughout the season. The apprentices will also participate in educational programming and outreach in local schools.
