Anna Sullivan, artistic director and choreographer of Anna and The Annadroids, is a native of Columbus, where she began her dance project in 2005. In 2011, she relocated to San Francisco where she continues to evolve her conceptual multimedia productions. Her most recent collaborative work, Faux(pas)bia, is a conceptual dance concert that features innovative choreography, aerial performance, immersive video environments, and an original music score. With a message of positive change through mindfulness and compassion, Faux(pas)bia depicts one girl's surreal journey as she struggles to face her fears and the unexpected challenges of a world that seems to be falling apart, ultimately arriving at the opportunity to rise above the chaos.

CAPA presents Anna and The Annadroids: Faux(pas)bia at the Riffe Center's Studio One (77 S. High St.) on Thursday, March 30, at 8pm; Friday, March 31, at 8pm; and Saturday, April 1, at 8pm. Tickets are $25 at the CAPA Ticket Center (39 E. State St.), all Ticketmaster outlets, and www.ticketmaster.com. To purchase tickets by phone, call (614) 469-0939 or (800) 745-3000.

In 2004, a small town girl with a big dream started a dance project called Anatomical Scenario. One year later, through a great deal of conceptual development and character building, Anna Sullivan's signature characters of Anna and The Annadroids were born. An Annadroid is a robotic, doll-like character that represents the idolized female form. The Annadroids appear to be clones, and their movements give the impression that they are a part of an army-like force. Their mission is to resist against their robotic conformity, dig deep into their hidden shadows, and discover their true self.

From 2005-11, Anna and The Annadroids were based in Columbus where they were seen at countless performances for community events, private parties, showcases, and their own full-length dance productions. During this time, they were also presented at the New York International Fringe Festival three times (2006, 2007, 2011); received funding from The Greater Columbus Arts Council and The Ohio Arts Council; and were awarded a 2008 Greater Columbus Arts Council's Artistic Excellence Award of $10,000 for their production Clone Zone.

In 2011, Sullivan moved to the West Coast where she continued to build her Annadroid dream. She wasted no time searching for new dancers, grants, and performance opportunities, and within one year, was re-staging her successful production, Clone Zone. From 2011-16, Sullivan created four full-length, multi-media productions and received support from The Zellerbach Foundation, ODC and The Fleishhacker Foundation, Theater Bay Area CA$H Grants, and The Phyllis Wattis Foundation. In 2013, Sullivan was awarded Choreographer of the Year by Bay Area Dance Watch. In 2017, she released her album, Faux(pas)bia, which is the musical score of the production.
