TINTYPES to Open Next Week at Actors' Summit Theater

Actors' Summit Akron's Professional theater is pleased to announce the opening of the TINTYPES. The show will have a preview performance on Thursday May 19th, at 8:00 PM. The opening night show is scheduled for Friday, May 20, 2016, also at 8:00 PM. A dessert reception with the director and cast follows the performance on opening night. The show runs until June 19, 2016.

TINTYPES is a tune-filled musical melting pot; the Great American Songbook come to life. It offers snapshots, of America in its last Age of Innocence. This Tony-nominated, nostalgic, musical revue takes us back to turn of the 19th century America and is a brew of popular songs from 1890 to 1917. It's the era of Charlie Chaplin and Teddy Roosevelt. Featuring a long list of great American tunes-"Hot Time in the Old Town Tonight," "Meet Me In St. Louis;" "Yankee Doodle Boy," and "You're a Grand Old Flag" this American musical revue is a great family hit.

This is a family friendly show, that features the works of Ira Gershwin, Irving Berlin and Scott Joplin among many others.

THE CAST:

Frank Jackman* returns as T.R. Frank has appeared on Actors' Summit stage in over 40 roles, most recently performed in Guys on Ice.

Neda Spears* debuts at Actors' Summit as Susannah. Neda appeared at Ensemble Theatre of Cleveland in A Song for Coretta and Huck and Holden.

Mark Seven returns onstage as Charlie Chaplin. Mark has appeared as our stage manager for much of this season, on stage he was last seen in The Importance of Being Ernest.

Holly Reimer debuts with Actors' Summit as Emma. She most recently has performed with Hudson Players in Lucky Stiff. Holly is a graduate of the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City.

Sarah Slagle returns this season as Anna Held. She appeared in Quilters at Actors' Summit this past fall, and this past spring at the University of Mt. Union in Spelling Bee.

Frank and Neda are members of Actors' Equity, the Union of Professional Actors.

THE PRODUCTION TEAM:

MaryJo Alexander, Artistic Director for Actors' Summit returns to direct TINTYPES following Guys on Ice andQuilters, earlier this season.

Kersten Vaughn makes her debut as Stage Manager for TINTYPES. Most recently she stage managed Spelling Bee for University of Mt. Union.

Musical Director for TINTYPES is Deborah "Ingy" Ingersoll. For Actors' Summit Ingy has music directed Quilters, Grand Night For Singing, and The Bikini's.

Kevin Rutan returns as lighting and sound designer; and Perry Catalano and Fred Sellers are designing the set forTINTYPES. They have designed all the shows for Actors' Summit this season; Kevin Rutan has been our sound and lighting designer for the past 4 seasons.

TINTYPES performances are May 19 through June 19; Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights at 8:00 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. Tickets are on sale now through the box office at 330-374-7568 and online at www.actorssummit.org. Tickets are $33 for adults, $28 for seniors over 65; and $10 for all full time students under 30. Special discounts are available for groups of 10 or more. All tickets for the May 19 Preview are $20 and are available at the box office and online.

Actors' Summit is located on the sixth floor of historic Greystone Hall at 103 S. High St., in downtown Akron. It is handicap accessible and has free parking.
