SAME TIME NEXT YEAR Begins Next Week at Actors' Summit Theater

Actors' Summit Akron's Professional theater will open the New Year with a production of Bernard Slade's romantic comedy Same Time Next Year. The show will have a preview performance on Jan 21st at 8 PM and opening night is scheduled for Jan 22nd. 2016. A dessert reception with the director and cast follows the performance on opening night. The show runs until Feb. 7th, 2016.

The Play

This Tony award winning play is one of the most popular romantic comedies of the last century. Same Time, Next Year ran four years on Broadway, and is still one of the world's most widely produced plays. The plot follows a love affair between two people, Doris and George, married to others, who rendezvous once a year. Twenty-five years of manners and morals are hilariously and touchingly played out by the lovers.

The New York Times called it "Delicious wit," ...full of "compassion, a sense of humor and a feel for nostalgia."; and the New York Post commented it is "genuinely funny and genuinely romantic."

The Cast

Keith Stevens joins us for this show as George. Keith most has appeared at Actors' Summit in over 35 productions, most recently The Book Club Play. Keith holds an MFA from the Actors' Studio in New York, where he is a a life time member. Keith recently appeared as Bif in The Price at Ensemble Theatre of Cleveland.

Natalie Sander Kern returns as Doris. Natalie was last seen at Actors' Summit in Handle With Care, where she performed the entire first act in Hebrew. Natalie also appeared in Taming of the Shrew, at Shakespeare at the Castle in Alliance Oh.

The Director:

Paula Kline-Messner directs Same Time Next Year. This is Paula's second turn as guest director for Actors' Summit. Paula has appeared on stage in Becky's New Car; The Bikini's and Motherhood Out Loud . Additionally for over 8 years Paula has appeared throughout the US in Menopause the Musical. She is a four time Emmy award winner for her work as a television writer, producer and on camera talent.

Performance details

Same Time Next Year performances are Jan. 21, through Feb. 7, 2016; Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights at 8:00 P.M. and Sundays at 2 PM.

Tickets:

Tickets are on sale now through the box office at 330-374-7568 and online at www.actorssummit.org. Tickets are $33 for adults, $28 for seniors over 65; and $10 for all full time students under 30. Special discounts are available for groups of 10 or more.

All tickets for the Jan 21st Preview are $20. and are available at the box and on line.

Pro-Rated Season tickets are available for the remaining shows in the season.

The Theater:

The theater is located on the sixth floor of historic Greystone Hall at 103 S. High St., in downtown Akron, and is handicap accessible and has free parking.
