"PLAYscape," a monthly family-oriented program sponsored by New World Performance Laboratory (NWPL) at the company's Balch Street Theatre, 220 South Balch Street, Akron 44302, takes place today, November 24 at 2pm-3:30 pm. The event is free and open to all ages.

On the last Saturday of each month, the company hosts a variety of interactive theatre adventures, landscapes, and escapes. This month NWPL Company Member and local artist Inda Blatch-Geib will be on hand to guide participants in creating "Random Acts of Art!" Participants will construct holiday gifts with a world culture perspective using both traditional and non-traditional materials. All materials will be provided.

Once created, the art piece should be "Randomly Gifted" to a shelter or nursing home or to someone of need in the community. A list of participating shelters, nursing homes, and organizations will be provided to attendees. Participants will be encouraged to post photos and stories on NWPL's facebook site in the following week.

Don't miss November's PLAYscape! This series of community and family-oriented adventures promises to engage kids and adults of all ages. Workshops begin at 2pm.

Along with the theatre activities, NWPL (in partnership with Readers at Risk) will distribute books (ages Birth-Adults) at PLAYscape. All ages are always welcome. And admission is free.
