Boy Meets Boy is a musical comedy which pays homage to the screwball romantic comedies of 1930s Hollywood, but with a twist. Co-presented by CAPA and Evolution Theatre Company (ETC), the off Broadway hit is being revived in Columbus with the help of the production's original writers, Bill Solly and Donald Ward. "Not only is this the first musical for Evolution, it's also the 35th anniversary of the show," stated Mark Phillips Schwamberger, ETC Executive Director. "So working with the writers directly from the original typewritten script and handwritten score has made it doubly exciting and fulfilling for us."

The all-local cast of characters consists of five principals and seven chorus. Principal actors include Granville resident Daniel Christian (Guy Rose), Upper Arlington resident Mark Phillips Schwamberger (Andrew), and Short North residents Eric McKeever (Casey O'Brien), Scott Risner (Clarence Cutler), and Adrian Helser (Lady Rose/Josephine).

CAPA and Evolution Theatre Company present Boy Meets Boy in Studio One of the Riffe Center (77 S. High St.). Performances are Wednesday-Saturday, July 14-24, at 8 pm. There will be one matinee performance on Sunday, July 18, at 2 pm. Tickets are $25 for adults and $20 for students and seniors at the Ohio Theatre Ticket Office (39 E. State St.), all Ticketmaster outlets, and www.ticketmaster.com. To purchase tickets by phone, call (614) 469-0939 or (800) 745-3000. The Studio One ticket office will open two hours prior to the performance.

The year is 1936. The place is prim-and-proper London. Yet in the society wedding of the year, the happy couple consists of two men-Boston millionaire Clarence Cutler and British aristocrat Guy Rose.

When handsome foreign correspondent Casey O'Brien focuses on the impending star-studded nuptials, his rival newsmen fool him into thinking the mousey Guy Rose (who Casey has never seen) is a famous beauty. So when no beauty shows at the altar, Casey assumes there has been a sensational jilting and must come up with a photo to back his story. Meanwhile, the real Guy Rose is right under his nose.

The mismatched pair eventually form a bond and true love produces a magical transformation amid a score which features one exquisite song and dance number after another-the famous ballad "Does Anybody Love You?," the Folies Bergeres number "It's a Dolly," and the ironic duet "Giving it Up For Love."
