Liz Caplan Vocal Studios Liz Caplan Vocal Studios
Liz Caplan has been "balancing the state of the artist" for more than 25 years as a voice teacher, vocal coach and vocal supervisor in New York City, and as a guest lecturer throughout the United States and Europe. Her students are currently featured in principal roles on Broadway, national tours, off-Broadway, regionally, and as artists in the recording industry. Many have won Tony Awards, Grammy and Emmy Awards.

Some of Liz Caplan's recording artist students include Ashanti, James Blunt, Natasha Bedingfield, Lily Allen, the Darkness, The Goo Goo Dolls, Morningwood, Danielle Evin, the British sensation Girls Aloud, and The BodyRockers. Liz has served as the Production Vocal Coach for Broadway's 13, and Rock Of Ages. She is Production Vocal Supervisor for Green Day's American Idiot on Broadway. Liz worked alongside Neil Patrick Harris during the 2009 Tony's where he hosted and performed.

Liz is the vocal consultant on Wicked, Next to Normal, In the Heights and many other Broadway and off Broadway musicals.

Liz also provided on-camera musical direction for "As the World Turns" on CBS Television. She has also coached recording artists and actors in preparation for their appearances on for The Tony Awards Telecast, The Today Show, David Letterman, The Craig Kilborne Show, Jimmy Kimmel, Conan O'Brien, The CBS Saturday Morning and Early Morning Shows.

Liz Caplan continues to work with many Tony and Grammy Award nominated and winning musical directors and arrangers. She consults on many projects long before they are fully realized. As a result, Liz is able to get a sense of the upcoming trends in both musical theatre and the music industry. Her students therefore benefit from a teacher who has an awareness of these new productions and their various musical styles.

Liz Caplan draws upon many diverse disciplines in her approach to teaching voice. Her innovative use of physical alignment, exercise, and nutrition help to build and maintain a healthy instrument. Yoga, breathing, and relaxation techniques, along with Alexander and Linklater philosophies, are also explored regularly. Vocal exercises, tailored to the individual student, aim to strengthen the larynx and vocal cords as well as releasing the tongue and jaw, yielding increased range and flexibility.

Her affiliations include: American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA), The Drama League, and the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) where she has been a speaker, panelist and workshop facilitator. She is also on the faculty of the Voice Foundation in Philadelphia, PA and a member of the New York Singing Teachers' Association (NYSTA), as well as a member of the Voice and Speech Therapists Association (VASTA).

Acting/Vocal Coach
Are you new to the NYC audition scene and feeling uneasy being "green?" Have you been acting forever and are starting to get jaded? Do you feel like your auditions are going well, but you're never getting that elusive callback? Are you consistently getting callbacks, but never booking the gig? Are you getting ready to apply to college theatre programs, and seeking help with your auditions or any other aspects of the application process (including essay writing and SAT prep)? Do you have an accent that you would like to reduce? Do you fear Shakespeare? Does the thought of having to do a cold reading give you chills? Are your old monologues getting stale? Would you like to build your book, fine-tune it, or even completely overhaul it? Do you want to tweak your current audition songs to be more dramatically expressive and vocally impressive? If you answered "yes" to any of those questions, simply want to hone your skills, or need an acting, audition, and/or vocal coach for any other reason, I can help you! I recently completed my MA in Educational Theatre in Colleges and Communities at NYU Steinhardt. My Master's degree was primarily focused on acting pedagogy, so I have a great deal of training and experience in teaching acting in various settings and styles. Additionally, I am a graduate of Brandeis University, where I double-majored in music (on the vocal performance track) and theatre and minored in secondary education, and LaGuardia Arts HS (the "Fame" School), where I majored in vocal music. As an actor and singer, I have performed in various off-Broadway, off-off-Broadway, and concert venues including Carnegie Hall, the Soho Playhouse, the 47th Street Theatre (Puerto Rican Travelling Theatre), the Gene Frankel Theatre, and Avery Fisher Hall. Since I am still establishing my client base and reputation, I charge a very reasonable fee of $50 per hour-long coaching session (which includes the space in a midtown rehearsal studio).

Ingrid Vocal Studio
Located in Los Angeles, our facility is dedicated to providing quality instruction in vocal studies to people of all ages, levels, and backgrounds. Speech Level Singing, a technique developed by Seth Riggs, trains singers to maintain their larynx stable and close their cords throughout their entire vocal range to avoid harming their voice. Proper training ensures an extensive vocal career. An important factor of Speech Level Singing, SLS, is overcoming the bridges known as “passagio.” Singers often experience tension throughout certain areas of their voice, which could lead to breaks in the voice. Through SLS technique, singers will learn to gradually mix their voice avoiding any breaks. This will eventually lead to a larger vocal range without any breaks in the voice. With this vocal technique, singers overcome physical challenges that block them from reaching their full vocal capacity while preserving their vocal chords healthy and strong.

Joseph Michael Voice Studio
Joseph Michael Falduti is a voice teacher and vocologist. He holds an MM in Vocal Performance from NYU, a Certificate in Vocology from the National Center for Voice and Speech, and completed coursework for an Advanced Certificate in Vocal Pedagogy at NYU. He has taught at New York University and Broadway Artists Alliance. He regularly participates in events with laryngologists and speech pathologists in the NYC area and is especially drawn to the areas of vocal health and injured singing voices, as well as the interdisciplinary aspects of voice training. His approach to working with the voice comes from what we know about vocal function through science, medicine, historical pedagogy, and of course personal experience. Voice science is in a very exciting period because we are constantly learning new things. Being at the forefront of that information allows him to teach voice with the latest, most up-to-date information. This is not to say that lessons are “scientific”, but rather that cutting edge knowledge informs the way that he works with each individual. Joseph Michael’s background is in both classical and musical theatre. Today, almost all singers are asked to cross those boundaries. The principles of vocal function are the same no matter the genre or style, but the stylistic nuances and resonance strategies of each must be closely monitored. This is especially important when singing contemporary or commercial music such as pop, rock, R&B, etc. Joseph Michael Voice Studio does not employ any trademarked “method” of singing. The basic instruction is to stretch and unpress the voice with the aid of a variety of semi-occluded vocal tract (SOVT) tools. Utilizing a primarily top-down approach, lightness is brought from the upper mechanism down to create an even, seamless voice. More importantly, the techniques are tailored around the individual needs of the student, and not from a cookie cutter recipe book or method. If you’re a recreational singer, working professional, are just starting out, or are a non-singer, there is a place for you at Joseph Michael Voice Studio. Clients served include actors, dancers, musical theatre performers, pop and rock singers, classical vocalists, college hopefuls, lecturers, fitness instructors, public speakers, politicians, business people, and anyone else needs or wants to learn optimal vocalism. At Joseph Michael Voice Studio, the focus is on you and your needs. Visit the Joseph Michael Voice Studio website, then take the next steps to discover your voice!

Karen Nimereala Voice Teacher and Vocal Coach in NYC
Karen Nimereala has been a fervent believer that a vocal technique based on the classical bel canto technique, is a vital tool in all genres of music; from opera, musical theatre, to pop, jazz and r&b as well. Being a singer in life herself, the work of such a technique has been proven time and again from Puccini to Sondheim on to Arlen and to the "belt" of Broadway through her own performance experience. The voice is a magical and spiritual expression of each individual and that is the basis of the foundation for every artist in the world of theatre. Karen in her latest and most recent experiences in vocal coaching and mentoring in performance have included Sting, in his rock-opera debut in Paris, France at the Chatelet Theatre. It was then followed by "Winter" a musical winter voyage in music performed and filmed at the Durham Cathedral in England. It is a mix of classical winter carols, songs and modern melodies written by Sting and others for the winter holiday of 2010. She is the vocal coach of Mylene Farmer as well, who is the major female pop singer of France and toured with her on her French and European tour of 2010. Karen is now working on the 2013 tour "Timeless" with Ms Farmer. Her many other young artist clients are performing on Broadway, the London West End, the Moulin Rouge, the Lido and theatres in Germany and France. She was recently asked to be the voice coach of the French equivalent of "American Idol" for French television. Karen with her varied experiences as a performing artist in musical theatre, jazz, pop and as an opera singer herself, have given that extra knowledge and edge so often lacking in vocal teaching today. This experience adds so much to help a student go from the early beginning of study onward on the path of a professional artist. She is one who believes the teaching and mentoring of an artist is a life - long commitment. A firm vocal and solid vocal technique and proper body alignment and breathing are the foundation of the singing artist. She uses various breathing exercises, relaxation techniques and vocal exercises that cover the whole range of the voice. Karen has a strong desire that every student should have dance and movement study in their development. Nutrition and physical sport are a major element in the study of musical, vocal theatre. Acting and scene study are as well another part of the whole in the art of vocal study. Karen has colleagues who are professionals and are part of her studio network. There are dance instructors, acting teachers from the Actors Studio, coach pianists for repertoire and audition preparation, a professional gym coach who is a nutritionist and total body workout expert to develop the singing actor in the necessary steps to complete fitness. These extraordinary friends and mentors who are a part of her life as a performer and teacher are always at the ready for her students. The "complete artist" is the goal in life for Karen in her studio. One must be able to use all the skills of music, singing, speech, movement, health, and fitness to become the artist of today. It is not a study of quick results or stardom in a is the work of a lifetime. Karen has studios in New York and Paris, where she works as well for Sarah Lawrence College Theatre Department and as well she is an adjunct professor at Hunter College in Manhattan. She gives vocal seminars in Paris and New York. There are summer theatre, opera and singing workshops in Normandy, France with intense study over two week periods. Her young singers and performers are presented in concert in New York as work-shop performing experience and in Paris as well. As a singer, teacher, mentor, coach and believer in the complete immersion of the artist in the skills through study, Karen will help you develop into the extraordinary artist that the world is searching and so needs....

Randy Craft Vocal Coach | Nashville's Best Voice Teacher
Voice Lessons Located in Music City USA, Randy Craft has become one of the most sought after vocal coaches and teachers in the Nashville area. He possesses a passion for teaching that very few other voice teachers have. What also sets him apart from other teachers is his vast knowledge of the scientific approach to singing. This knowledge of how the body works to form sound allows Randy to quickly achieve results in his students, expanding range, ease, and style. When Studying with Randy you should expect to see amazing results fast. Versed in many styles and genres, Randy can help you to discover the artist inside that’s dying to come out. Students often find themselves singing up to an octave higher in their first session! The Technique Randy's vocal technique is based on de-pressurisation of the vocal folds. If a singer can't make sound without causing their muscles to tense or lock up, then there is a serious issue. Once the vocal chords have been alleviated of harmful pressure, a singer can down the barrier and can make stylistic vocal choices they previously didn’t have the freedom to make. Randy's goal is to never change an artist’s own style, but to actually help them to sound. Randy's goal is to never change an artists style, but to actually make them sound more like them self.

Voice Lessons with Dori Levine
Through 18 years of teaching I have developed my own approach to the art of teaching singing. I am continually surprised and pleased with the dramatic results that I witness often, even during the first lesson. I specialize in a “voice as an instrument” approach. I have created my own “body, breath, voice warm-up” as I see these three elements as inseparable. The warm-up encourages relaxation, effortless vocalizing, a positive singing stance, whole body breathing and brings an awareness of "you" as your instrument. I work with developing strong musicianship skills and ear training which are also tremendous confidence builders, so necessary for singers. I have many tools to open your voice so that you can use your vocal instrument to it’s potential with all of it’s colors, nuances, range and power. My teaching method combines traditional exercises that focus on specific skills such as strength, flexibility, intonation, range and breath support with exercises to free the voice. We will explore vocal possibilities in search of your own personal sound and style. I encourage expressing your own originality. We'll find what is special about you and expand upon it. Teaching voice is a vast subject. For some students a few lessons are enough as the first handful of lessons are especially powerful. For other students who prefer to go more deeply the work can continue for years. It’s up to you as to how many lessons you take. Lessons and vocal exercises are personalized according to your needs.

You're a great dancer. But you think your singing ability isn't on par with your dancing and you feel like its costing you jobs. Your confidence is high in the dance calls but as soon as you make it to the singing call you freeze, especially if you are transitioning from the dance world into the musical theatre world. Are any of these happening to you? Dancers have a unique set of needs from individualized attention (sometimes with a lot of TLC!) in vocal technique to very specific song style and song cut needs. Stephen Purdy, as a private vocal coach at New York Vocal Coaching Studio and singing instructor for the very popular "The Dancer's Voice" series has helped hundreds of dancers sing with great technique, confidence and with the right songs and cuts in their books. Here's what students are saying: "As a dancer with some apprehension for singing in front of people, I can attest that Amanda creates a fun, safe and overall positive environment during her lessons allowing all my nerves to dissipate. Her abilities as an instructor have enforced the confidence in me to walk into an audition, head held high and book the job. I highly recommend Amanda to singers of all levels." -Peter C. (Wicked, West Side Story) "Amanda has helped me find the voice I never knew I was capable of. Her personal attention and teaching style have made so many things clear to me that others failed to do in the past." -Johnathon H. (AMDA Graduate) "Through my lessons with Amanda, I have gained the correct tools and technique but most importantly the confidence to feel like I can tackle any song. It is an incredibly welcoming, nurturing and safe environment where it is ok to make mistakes and learn how to improve from them. Amanda will make the lesson work for you and cater particularly to your voice. She understands that not all voices are the same, which is incredibly difficult to find in a teacher. I always leave feeling positive and ready for our next lesson!" -Charlotte R. (AMDA Graduate) "Amanda helped me find my best voice. Rather than trying to get me to sing in ways that weren't right for me and my voice, Amanda gave me techniques to help me sing at my best in ways that felt natural and comfortable. She made me feel confident and taught me how to practice at home and prepare for auditions/performances--things no other voice teacher had done for me before." -Courtney R. (NYU Graduate, Stella Adler)
