OBJECTIVE
The Theater Manager’s main responsibility would be the supervision and management of the Art House Productions Art Center’s staff and operations and the continual upkeep and maintenance of all facilities, constantly monitoring and maintaining the facilities in terms of safety, federal and state law compliance, and staff/volunteers, audience and artist comfort.
Facilities Management/Building Operations
Develop, monitor and implement functional management systems for all theatre operations
Oversee all front of house and backstage operations, maintenance staff and outside contractors and workers.
Supervise maintenance, engineer/building supervisor and cleaning staff at the Art House: prepare and coordinate schedules; monitor and execute quality cleaning, order and maintain cleaning supplies; authorize, coordinate and supervise repairs; prepare and authorize payment for contractors.
Review and monitor relationships with building vendors and service contractors on annual maintenance agreements and building repairs.
Prepare and oversee theater maintenance annual departmental operating budgets with Executive Director/Treasurer
Ensure compliance with building department and fire department codes, DEP, health department (where applicable), theatrical unions, and ongoing compliance with ADA
Monitor, maintain and ensure building security needs at Art House
Maintain current operations permits and monitor expirations
Develop, monitor, and maintain annual operations, maintenance and capital budgets for the Art House in conjunction with the Executive Director and Production Manager(s)
Work closely with contractors and architects on improvements and changes to the facilities. Participate in the coordination and oversight of capital and maintenance projects and the planning of future additional facilities.
FRONT OF HOUSE
Oversee all Front-of-House Operations in concert with staff/volunteers, including hiring, training, scheduling and supervision of FOH staff. Assist ticket takers and ushers; supervision of maintenance of bar and concessions at performances and liaison with concessions/merchandise operator; ordering and maintaining of all supplies and equipment. Serve as House Manager at all performances and assume related responsibilities.
Prepare and oversee Front-of-House annual departmental operating budget with Executive Director/Treasurer.
Establish and maintain communications with other departments
Coordinate operations with production staff and box office; ensure smooth operations and prompt starting times
Monitor air temperature
Ensure first-rate customer service to all donors, subscribers, and single ticket buyers
Handle patron complaints and problems
Calculate weekly payroll and approve concessions, bar and merchandising statements
Submit weekly payroll for FOH, building staff and/or stage crew (when applicable)
Approve weekly bar, concessions and merchandise reconciliations
Review and amend, where appropriate, departmental policies and procedures
Coordinate and supervise receptions, special events, and rentals, including invoices and collection
Ensure building is empty and secure before departing and ensure lock up procedures
Handle emergencies relating to the building and/or audience
