Through 10 theatrical productions each year (including world premieres, musicals, classics and theater for young audience productions) and 50+ annual events happening around Monmouth County, we work hard to produce exceptional theater and cultivate engaged audiences. Responsibilities



The Development Associate is responsible for helping to develop and manage Two River Theater’s (TRT) individual giving program and supporting the Director of Development in the engagement and building of individual donor relationships. He or she will be responsible for administering TRT’s individual giving program, including prospect research, annual appeals, the cultivation and solicitation of individual donors, donor stewardship, and maintaining the donor data base.



In addition, the Development Associate will be responsible for assisting the Director of Development and Managing Director with administrative tasks related to the Board of Trustees and Development Committee. He/she will report directly to the Director of Development.



Individual Giving

· Work with Director of Development to manage an individual giving program to provide special access to the theater and Backstage Pass membership benefits for all Annual Fund donors.

· Help manage a Stewardship Plan to ensure appropriate recognition of donors at all giving levels and cultivate major gifts by sending follow up letters, greeting cards, invitations to special events, and by making personal calls to thank donors.

· Conduct ongoing individual prospect research of potential major donors and Board prospects, and prepare donor profiles.

· Assist the Director of Development prepare for meetings and presentations to donors and donor prospects.

· Organize planned giving initiatives and Legacy Society activities by helping to identify prospects and implement strategy.

· Draft thank you letters, help produce donor materials, and manage all other ongoing correspondence with individual donors.

· Coordinate with the Special Events Associate in the planning and execution of cultivation events and activities targeted to individual donors.

· Research fundraising best practices and develop new stewardship opportunities and ideas.

· Process all contributed income in the database, prepare daily Development Reports of gifts received, and process paperwork related to donations, including matching gifts.



Annual Appeals

· Draft Annual Fund appeal and coordinate two to four direct mail solicitation letters/appeals each year.

· Prepare quarterly Major Gift renewal letters and appeals to existing donors and prospects.

· Track individual giving contributions, expenses and the response rates of appeals.

· Draft thank you letters and manage other correspondence with individuals and event supporters as needed.

· Maintain donor records in donor database and paper files, pull lists for mailings and analysis as needed, and prepare donor revenue reports to measure results against goals.



Other

· Coordinate the theater’s Annual Report by working with other TRT departments, the graphic designer, and printer.

· Collaborate with Director of Development and other Development Staff to manage relationships with major donors and Board members.

· Schedule, provide meeting set-up, and take minutes at Board and Development Committee meetings.

· Work with Director of Development to manage Development budget and track ongoing expenses.

· Assist Special Events Associate with event activities as needed.

· Help with other Development Department projects as requested.



Qualifications

· Bachelor's degree required.

· Strong written communication skills required.

· Should exhibit a high degree of organization, attention to details, and ability to multitask.

· Should be able to communicate clearly and professionally with theater patrons and donors.

· Must be highly proficient with computers (especially Word and Excel).

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

· Ability to work on selected weekday and weekend evenings required.

· Previous experience in development and individual giving is desired.

· Knowledge of theater, the arts and the local community is preferred.
