CCM Announces Winter 2011 Calendar of Major Events

The University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) presents nearly 1,000 public events throughout the year and offers free admission to many of its performances. All events listed here take place on the CCM campus and are free unless otherwise indicated. Some events require paid admission; please see individual event information for details and ordering information.

Set on the Island of Tulipatan, Théodorine has raised her son as a girl named Hermosa to rescue him from military conscription, while Duke Cacatois' daughter, lacking a male heir to the throne, has been brought up as a boy named Alexis. Of course unknowingly, the young people fall in love and plan to wed, which does not change when the cross-gender role-playing comes to light. Offenbach sets Henri Chivot and Alfred Duru's original French libretto to a deliriously delightful one-act operetta, filled with uproarious calamity and endless hilarity. Sung in French with English spoken dialogue.

Along the countryside an evil dragon has returned to wreak revenge upon the king who banished him. As knights lie helpless before this beast, one woman is determined to show she has the intelligence, strength and courage to save them all. This show was originally produced in Chicago at the Emerald City Theatre. This production will be the premiere of this adaptation by Alyn Cardarelli and Steve Goers.

One of the nation's leading children's and youth choir programs, the Cincinnati Children's Choir celebrates 10 years in residence at CCM with this concert, featuring the winner of its national composition competition. In addition, the six resident choirs will perform classical, world and folk music with special guests.
