The Revival, Hyde Park's new comedy theater, announces its lineup of shows and events playing in March 2017. Inspired by the legacy of the Compass Players, The Revival brings improvisational comedy back to the same corner where it was invented in 1955! Tickets can be purchased by visiting www.the-revival.com. The Revival is located at 1160 E. 55th St. in Hyde Park.

Word Play - a Dave Jeff Joint - is the sound of real hip hop mixed with the hottest new stand ups from across the country and topped with the consciousness of the best spoken word artists on the planet. Word Play harnesses the power of words from different aspects of our culture to incite laughter, cheers and tears. Curated by cultural architect Dave Jeff of PHLI; hosted by acclaimed personality Leon Rogers (WGCI); and featuring Guest DJs and Artists for a PHLI game of words!

The Hutchins Plan
Longform Improv featuring UChicago faculty, students & alums

The Hutchins Plan is named for early twentieth century University of Chicago President RoBert Maynard Hutchins. Featuring "Special Guests" from across the College, the performance begins with an extemporaneous monologue that inspires a series of interconnected scenes.
Join host Prof. Randal Picker and The Hutchins Plan Ensemble for an evening of classic long-form improvisation.

Brian Babylon - Home Grown
Stand up comedy from the Prince of Bronzeville. Featuring Susie An (WBEZ).

Brian Babylon is a Chicago-born comic and radio host. The self-proclaimed "Prince of Bronzeville" is a fixture in Chicago's rich comedy community. He hosted and produced The Morning AMP radio show on Vocalo 91.1 FM, a sister station of WBEZ / Chicago Public Radio. He's also been making a name for himself outside of Chicago, placing in the finals of the New York Comedy Contest in 2009 and in 2012 selected to the Comedy Central South Beach Comedy Festival. He has made the move to Los Angeles to join the production team on the Comedy Central show "Why? with Hannibal Buress." He is also one of the fan favorites of the popular NPR weekly news quiz show Wait Wait Don't Tell Me, contributes to BBC Radio, hosted The Moth StorySLAM in Chicago, and this year he can be seen in season 3 of Inside Amy Schumer on Comedy Central.

About The Revival
The Revival is a new comedy venue in Hyde Park dedicated to reflecting the diversity of Chicago's South Side on stage. Inspired by the legacy of the Compass Players, The Revival brings improvisational comedy back to the very spot where it was born on the northeast corner of 55th Street and University Avenue. This 150-seat, cabaret-style theater features a diverse range of programming including sketch comedy, improv, standup, music and more.
