Tapman Productions to Kick Off Inaugural Season with THE ADVENTURES OF TAPMAN, Jan 28

Tapman Productions, a newly formed Chicago-based tap company, and Artistic Director Tristan Bruns are proud to announce an inaugural full-length season at the Athenaeum Theatre, 2936 N. Southport Ave. The season includes three original productions: The Adventures of Tapman (January 28 - February 8, 2015) featuring a tap dancing superhero, The Tapmen Repertory Performance (May 29 - June 7, 2015), a unique collaboration integrating tap dance and modern dance and Tapman Productions presents MADD Rhythms (September 11 - 20, 2015), a performance that showcases fellow tap dance company, MADD Rhythms.

The Adventures of Tapman follows the triumphs and trials of the tenacious Tapman, a lovelorn scientist turned tap dancing superhero. Audiences meet his crime-fighting comrades, Hourglass and Modern Marvel, as well as his arch-nemesis, the MADD Tapper, during this adventure. Inspired by Bruns' childhood love of comic books, The Adventures of Tapman is an exciting show that the entire family can enjoy.

The scene for The Tapmen Repertory Performance is the Raison d'Être, a swanky cabaret with a diverse clientele. The maître d' croons several tunes of his own as he hosts an evening at the lively establishment. In this unique presentation, Bruns brings in guest artists from other Chicago dance companies to combine multiple styles of dance in one full-length performance and features additional choreography from Mike Ford and Kate O'Hanlon.

The final performance of Tapman Productions' 2015 season showcases the work of MADD Rhythms, a phenomenal tap dance collective whose 'sole' purpose is to spread the love and joy of tap worldwide. Founder Bril Barrett, Bruns, and other company members present original choreography in their first full-length performance since 2012.

ABOUT TAPMAN PRODUCTIONS - Tapman Productions began as a collaborative effort between three Chicago tap dancers, Zada Cheeks, Martin Bronson and Tristan Bruns in 2010. This eventually led to the creation of the performance ensemble, The Tapmen and, in 2012, the production company, Tapman Productions, LLC. Now, Tapman Productions not only houses The Tapmen as its resident performance ensemble, but also its apprentice company, The Tapmen 2, and produces performances for dance companies in Chicago and throughout the Midwest. Tapman Productions is dedicated to producing performances that highlight exciting visual elements and touches of comedy while honoring the integrity of tap dance.
