Strawdog Theatre Company, Interim Artistic Director Hank Boland and Hugen Hall Artistic Director Anderson Lawfer are proud to announce the Hugen Hall 2013 - 2014 season. Their second producing season includes the world premiere of Brett Neveu's Detective Partner Hero Villain, directed by Gus Menary, November 24 - December 17; a prime-time remount of the late night hit from their inaugural season, Pontypool, adapted by Anderson Lawfer and Tony Burgess and directed by Anderson Lawfer, January 9 - February 2, 2014 and the world premiere of Forks & Hope's Just So Stories, directed and adapted by Josh Sobel and the Forks & Hope Ensemble from Rudyard Kipling's Just So Stories, March 9 - April 1, 2014. These productions, plus ongoing late night offerings, are presented at Strawdog's space in the heart of Chicago's Lakeview neighborhood, 3829 N. Broadway Street. Detective Partner Hero Villain

Acclaimed director, member of The Inconvenience and Jackalope Theatre Co-Founder Gus Menary makes his Strawdog debut at the helm of the world premiere of Brett Neveu's psychological superhero-noir about life questions, death realities and the ultimate consequences of trusting those who tell us to "keep the faith." Detective Partner Hero Villain also introduces the world to a new superhero, The Fantastic Phenomenon as he battles his arch nemesis, Supernova."

Pontypool

"A War of the Worlds for our time!" Pontypool is a psychological thriller about a small town that becomes infected with a deadly virus. Strawdog proudly brings this smash hit and inaugural Hugen Hall production back to the stage. Based on the film Pontypool and the novel Pontypool Changes Everything by Tony Burgess and featuring ensemble members Michael Dailey, Jamie Vann and Anita Deely with returning cast member Nikki Klix.

Forks and Hope's Just So Stories

The Forks & Hope Ensemble that brought you the acclaimed adaptation of The Hunting of the Snark returns to the Hugen Hall stage, this time, they are telling the classic children's tale of Rudyard Kipling, Just So Stories. Working with Kipling's original text and their exciting brand of imaginative storytelling, Forks & Hope will not only delve into the fantasy of these beloved tales, but also show a side of them that is rarely ever explored.

Since its founding in 1988, Strawdog Theatre Company has offered Chicagoland the premiere storefront theatre experience and garnered numerous Non-Equity Jeff Awards with its commitment to ensemble acting and an immersive design approach. The celebrated Company develops new work, re-imagines the classics, melds music with theatre, asks provocative questions and delivers their audience the unexpected.
