Stage 773 Announces NerdFest, 10/3

Stage 773, a multi-complex theater formed by Artistic Director Brian Posen that is welcoming, nurturing and collaborative to Chicago's art community, has announced their October education programming and inaugural monthly Nerd fest event produced by The Chicago Nerd Comedy Festival.

· Advanced Comedy class October 8 - November 19- Join Stage 773 and seven of Chicago's leading teachers for a fall master class. Seven-weeks of three-hour intensives will be held every Tuesday from 7 - 10pm. Each week, the class will be taught by a different industry guru from Second City, iO, the Annoyance and more. Learn their personal tricks of the trade, and find inspiration in your own work by learning from the best of the best in Chicago. The class is $350 per student, class limit of 20 students.

· Wiser is Better Adult Comedy Class October 3 - November 10- Elders are experts at observation, collaboration, and play; the elements that make profoundly effective comedians, riveting storytellers and powerful performers. Every Monday and Thursday from 1-3 p.m., the WISER IS BETTER class for adults ages 55 and older teaches the basic skills of improvisation, storytelling, and performance. Taught by Janna Sobel, this class is fun, empowering, and designed to meet varying levels of comfort and experience. Beginning on Oct. 3, the class runs for 7 weeks with the final performance on Nov. 19 at 2 p.m. Regularly $300 per student, bring a friend to registration and receive $25 off both registration fees.

· Wednesday, October 16th from 7 p.m. - 10 p.m. will mark the first in a series of fun and FREE monthly events produced by The Chicago Nerd Comedy Festival at Stage 773. Fan Fiction readings based on Harry Potter, Star Wars, Star Trek, Dr. Who, Pokemon, the Whedonverse and more will abound. In the spirit of Halloween, both audience and readers are encouraged to dress in Zombie cosplay. Readers include Zach Abel, Keenan Camp, Fin Coe, Mary Catherine Curran, Reeny Hofrichter, Rory Leahy, Nikki Pierce, Matthew Preston, Caitlin Rose, C. J. Tuor, Brian Work, Larissa Zageris, and more. Nerd themed drink specials will also be available at the Stage 773 bar.
