Rubicon Theatre Project presents the 3rd Annual KASSI FEST, a short play festival, at Studio BE, 3110 N Sheffield, Chicago, IL 60657 on May 16 and 17, 2010.

KASSI FEST is now in its third year. KASSI FEST's namesake is taken from the late co-founder of Rubicon Theatre Project, Kassi Dallmann, who passed away in 2007. Each year Rubicon Theatre Project remembers her with a short play festival. The parameters for the festival are as follows: we select a list of topics, words, ideas, places, etc... that remind us of Kassi and then ask playwrights from around the world (literally) to submit original plays that are based on or inspired by one or more (in some cases all) the words and topics on the list. This year we received over 100 new play submissions from across the country and one from Russia.

This year's topics of inspiration:
gnomes, Muppets, panic attack, renter's insurance, "Doll Man", drinking 40s, chicken dumpling soup, cross country skiing, sunburn, Circus World, Stevens Point, WI, meatloaf, ping pong table

This year's plays:
FIVE FINGER EXERCISE by Arthur M. Jolly (Marina Del Rey, CA)
LOS LIBROS MALOS or "The Bad Books" by D. Richard Tucker (Kent, WA)
LUCY DREAMING by Stacey Lane (Miamisburg, OH)
SHAKING THE BABY by James Whittington* (Chicago, IL)
SUBTLETY by Michael Weems (New York, NY)
THE GIFT by Jeff Taylor* (Chicago, IL)
THE SIZE OF FURNITURE by Benjamin Adair Murphy (Brooklyn, NY)
THE STAND-IN by Brett Hursey (Farmville, VA)
