Rogue Theater, last seen staging Major Barbara in Andersonville in 2007, ends its eight year hiatus with another George Bernard Shaw classic, Don Juan in Hell. Don Juan is the story of four distinct personalities gathering in Hell to determine the true purpose of humanity. Originally written as the third act of Shaw's Man and Superman (which Rogue produced in 2002), Don Juan is a sharp and biting comedy which lays bare our collective strengths and weaknesses.

Don Juan's Hell is nothing like the fiery pit most of us think of when we hear the word. It is a place of leisure and culture, whose denizens can appear to each other in any way they choose. It also contains some of Shaw's most colorful characters. We first meet Ana (played by Nellie Ognacevic), newly dead, who tries to make sense of her new surroundings. Ana runs into her former suitor, Don Juan (Rogue Artistic Director Nate White), who finds Hell boring and seeks a higher purpose. Juan reintroduces Ana to her father, The Commander (Mark Habert), who has recently decided to leave Heaven to enjoy the comforts of Hell. The foursome is completed by the Devil himself (Lew Wallace), who is the arbiter of culture in the realms below. The show is directed by two veteran Rogue collaborators, Dan Foss and Kerstin Broockmann.

Don Juan in Hell will run Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. from May 29 - June 28, 2015 at The Side Project Theatre in Rogers Park. Tickets are $15, $10 for students, seniors, and industry. The Side Project Theatre is located at 1439 W. Jarvis, Chicago.
