Come to Skokie Theatre this June 6th, 2010, to take a musical journey with the wonderful chanteuse, Pegi Johns, as she touches upon the greatest hits of the World War II era. The show features the music of The Andrew Sisters, Judy Garland, Glenn Miller, Cole Porter, Fats Waller, Richard Rodgers, Frank Loesser and Harold Arlen. ABOUT PEGI JOHNS

From her live concert and nightclub performances, leading roles in musical stage productions, acting in motion pictures, television shows and commercials, to modeling in print and television ads, Pegi Johns has established herself as a versatile performer.

Pegi's classic vocal interpretations of the American popular songbook and Broadway show tunes has brought her critical and audience acclaim across the country.

She has appeared at such prestigious nightclubs as Chicago's Davenport's, the Zebra Lounge, the Big House, Max's and Cyrano's; the Summit, Missouri Club, Gentry Park, The Raddison, The Savor, Big Sky Café and Chesterfield Arts Center in St Louis, Mo; the Bermuda Dunes Country Club in Palm Dessert, Calif.

Her concert performances have brought her across the globe to such diverse places as the US Embassy in Milan, Italy; the General Patton Memorial Museum in Calif; the Iowa Sesquicentennial and such special events as the Concert Under The Stars, Jazz In July, Arts After Hours, The Metropolitan Club, Capital Square, Greater Des Moines Business Fair, Court Avenue and the Savory in Des Moines, Ia.

Her acclaimed one woman show "A Window Into Our Hearts: Songs That Got Us Through The War 1939-45, performed at Crossroads Theater and Davenport's, was heralded by the Chicago Sun Times as "a nostalgic journey back into the 1940's." Pegi's Classy Cabaret show has also been performed all over the nation to cheering audiences.

Pegi is a member of Metro Arts in Des Moines and also a member of the Chicago and St Louis Professional Cabaret Associations and has performed in Showcases under the direction of Lina Koutrakos, Rick Jensen, Alex Rybeck and Amanda McBroom.

Pegi is a past member of the St Louis County Community Chorus under the direction of Merry Keller.

She has studied piano, cello and violin throughout her earlier years and recently has studied voice under the direction of voice coach, David Edelfelt of Chicago.

Pegi has been a vocalist with the Danny Hartzer Big Band in Des Moines, the Johnny Polzin Orchestra in St Louis and the Bill Shepard Big Band in Waterloo, Ia.

A nursing school graduate, Pegi finds it very fulfilling to perform for the Greatest Generation audience.

As an accomplished and versatile actress, Pegi has worked extensively in films, television and theater. Her movie credits include PBS's award-winning Cora Unashamed and Mommy II: Mommy's Day, with Mickey Spillane. Her on-camera work in television and voice overs for radio commercials includes Sears, Teledontics, Allied Group Insurance, Cookies Barbecue Sauce, the Wolfe Eye Clinic and the Iowa State Lottery. Pegi has also appeared in numerous industrial film projects form such major companies as Better Homes and Gardens, Sears, the Principal Financial Group and Norwest Bank.
