Lillie's Q chef/owner Charlie McKenna, who serves award-winning competition BBQ along with Southern favorites and sides at his Bucktown restaurant (1856 W North Ave), will host a four-course beer featuring rare Anderson Valley Brewing Company brews starting at 6pm on Tuesday, May 24.

There are no reservations accepted for the beer dinner, and it will be served on a first come, first serve basis starting at 6pm. Lillie's Q will also serve it's regular a la carte menu on Tuesday, May 24 as well.

The cost of the four-course dinner - with each course paired with a different 8oz pour of Anderson Valley beers - is $55 per person (tax and gratuity not included). Anderson Valley owner and president Trey White will be at the beer dinner and will talk about the beer pairings. Proceeds from each beer dinner sold will go the Make-A-Wish Foundation's "Dining For Wishes" campaign.

The four-course Anderson Valley beer dinner menu and pairings are listed below.

First Course
Fried pickles paired with Boontlinger Weiss.
* Boontlinger Weiss is a light, refreshing wheat beer with a twist: a special belgian yeast adds the complexity and balance that are the hallmark of Anderson Valley Beers. Inspired by German Weisssbier, this light golden ale has hints of tropical fruit and banana, and a cool, clean finish.

Second Course
Pulled pork and collard greens paired with Boont Amber Ale.
* Boont Amber Ale is a medium bodied pale ale with a beautiful copper color, a robust head, and the rich flavor of caramel malt. This very smooth and exceptionally drinkable beer that pairs excellently with flavorful meals. Boont Amber Ale won the Silver Medal at the 2003 Great American Beer Festival, in the American-Style Amber/Red Ale category.

Third Course
Tri-tip and slow-roasted asparagus paired with Wee Geech Pale Ale with Spruce Tips.
* This special beer is the traditional Wee Geech Pale Ale with its clean and crisp hop flavor, a snappy hop aroma and a light toasty malt back bone -- but it's finished with spruce tips to give it additional distinction, character, and balance.

Fourth Course
Chocolate chess pie paired with Barney Flats Oatmeal Stout.
* Barney Flats Oatmeal Stout is full-bodied with a decadent mocha character and smooth mouthfeel balanced by a subtle hop bite. It took the bronze medal at the 2010 World Beer Cup.

About Lillie's Q: Chef Charlie McKenna (formerly the sous chef at Tru and Avenues) opened Lillie's Q restaurant in July 2010 specializing in award-winning competition BBQ, Southern favorites and sides in Bucktown as a homage to his family's deep cooking roots. McKenna has competed on the competition BBQ circuit with his father and friends the last 10 years, and the team won the prestigious Memphis In May BBQ competition in 2007 in the pork shoulder category and placed in top then the past five years. McKenna opened an outpost of Lillie's Q in Destin, FL with his parents in 2008. At Lillie's Q in Chicago, McKenna is smoking pork shoulder for pulled pork, tri-tip, baby back ribs, and chicken in two custom built smokers over peach wood and lump charcoal. McKenna began cooking Southern favorites and sides with grandma Lillie and his mother at an early age and those standouts make their way onto the Lillie's Q menu via shrimp & grits, an individual low country boil, pimento cheese, fried pickles, boiled peanuts, Brunswick stew, baked beans, macaroni & cheese and banana pudding. Lillie's Q features moonshine-based specialty cocktails (like the "Morning Lillie" that's a play on a Bloody Mary and the "M&M&M" that's a mint julep riff), 10 All-American craft drafts (including a specially made copper lager by Chicago's Metropolitan Brewing that pairs with the BBQ), and a rotating selection of All-American craft bottled beers. Located at 1856 W North Ave (773.772.5500), Lillie's Q serves lunch and dinner daily from 11am-10pm Sunday thru Wednesday, and 11am-11pm Thursday thru Saturday.
