The new southern rock-parody musical Lanyard Skynerd - The Musical, written by Ed Furman and T.J. Shanoff, creators of The Second City's box office hit Rod Blagojevich Superstar!, and directed by Jeff Award winner Mick Napier, will be presented for a limited engagement at Martyrs (3855 N. Lincoln Ave., Chicago), for five performances only, Monday evenings, September 30 - October 28, 2013, at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets are $15, and are on sale now at http://www.martyrslive.com/lanyard-skynerd-musical, or at Martyrs box office: 773.404.9494. There is an 18+ age limit.

Lanyard Skynerd - The Musical is the story of the greatest fictional southern rock-parody-corporate- entertainment band in the world! This foot stomping new musical parody takes a look at the fledgling cover band's rise, meteoric fall, and ultimate redemption during a rowdy, one-night-only reunion; organized by their vacuous, anything-for-a-buck manager.

Lanyard Skynerd - The Musical is the southern rock jukebox equivalent of Million Dollar Quartet, utilizing hilariously offensive parody lyrics not heard onstage since The Book of Mormon. It promises to provide a nostalgic, and utterly weird evening of southern rock classics performed like you've never heard them before, accompanied by a 5-piece band featuring some of Chicago's top session musicians.

Lanyard Skynerd - The Musical is written by Ed Furman (alumnus, Second City Mainstage) and T.J. Shanoff (co-creator, The Roof Is On Fiddler), creators of the box office hit Rod Blagojevich Superstar! (Second City, Chicago Shakespeare Theatre); directed by Mick Napier, Jeff Award winner and founder of Annoyance Theater; and stars Tributosaurus lead singer and WSCR-AM radio host Matt Spiegel. Lanyard Skynerd - The Musical also features longtime Second City performers Greg Mills, Lori McClain, and Karla Beard. Kyle Anderson (Second City e.t.c.) is the lighting designer.
