Under the guidance of new Artistic Director, Steve Calzaretta, JPAC Theatre is proud to announce the upcoming production of GYPSY. The role of Mama Rose, the iconic stage mother, will be played by veteran stage performer, Nancy Hays, who played Auntie Mame last summer at Light Opera Works and Judy Garland in Pride Films and Plays, Boy from Oz. Other leading cast members include Jim Spangler as Herbie, Rachel Livingston as Louise, and Brice Baron as June. Ava Morse will play Baby June. Justin Amolsch will music direct the classic Jule Syne and Stephen Sondheim score with an eight piece orchestra.

Hays is mother of three showbiz kids who have appeared on Chicago's professional stages during the last decade at The Goodman, Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, Grant Park Summerdance, Paramount, Steppenwolf Theatre and many others. "I intend to play Rose with the heart and soul of a real stage mom" says Hays "I think many moms who live vicariously through their kids on stage and in sports will find her very relatable".

Gypsy runs at Jedlicka Performing Arts Center from April 21-May 6 with a gala performance on April 20th for the press and other invited guests. Official Opening Night is April 21, 2017.
