Tickets to The House's THE NUTCRACKER are flying out the door, so they have decided to add some more performances to the schedule.

There will now be matinee performances every Saturday at 3:00 pm (beginning December 4th) and every Sunday at 2:00 pm (beginning December 5th and including December 26th).

The House is also adding a performance on Tuesday, December 21 at 8:00 pm.

Tickets to the benefit performance on December 4th are still avalable.  Tickets to this event are $50 and include a pre-show reception with the artists and The House's Happiest Holiday Party Ever directly after the performance.

The House Theatre of Chicago is pleased to announce the return of THE NUTCRACKER, a re-imagining of the classic E.T.A. Hoffmann story, adapted by House Theatre company members Phillip C. Klapperich and Jake Minton and featuring an original score by company member Kevin O'Donnell. House company member Tommy Rapley directs this innovative take on the classic Christmas tale, opening November 21 at the Chopin Theatre (1543 W. Division St.), with preview performances November 11-20. THE NUTRACKER will run through December 26.
The House's fantastical deconstruction of this time-honored holiday story centers on Clara's journey to save her family from the Rat King before Christmas, with the help of a Nutcracker, a gift from her beloved Uncle Drosselmeyer. What unfolds is a heartwarming holiday story that weaves together riveting dialogue, astonishing puppetry, beautiful song and spellbinding spectacle to tell a darkly moving story of magic and mystery.

The House's newly imagined version of THE NUTCRACKER first premiered at the Steppenwolf Theatre in 2007 under the Visiting Company Initiative.

THE NUTRACKER is adapted by Phillip C. Klapperich and Jake Minton from "The Nutcracker and the Mouse," a story by E.T.A. Hoffmann. THE NUTCRACKER is directed by Tommy Rapley with original music by Kevin O'Donnell.

Showtimes are Thursdays and Fridays at 8:00 pm, Saturdays at 3:00 and 8:00 pm, Sundays at 2:00 and 7:00 pm. Additional shows include December 22 at 8:00 pm and December 24 at 3:00 pm.There is no show on Christmas Day

All performances will take place in The Chopin Theatre Upstairs Theatre (1543 W. Division St., Chicago, IL)

Tickets are $25 at www.thehousetheatre.com or by phone at 773.251.2195, $10 Student and Industry rush tickets available at all performances.

THE NUTCRACKER is The House's holiday show and is not included with The House's 2010/2011 season subscription, though subscribers do receive $5 off all tickets.
