DANKHaus, Chicago's German American cultural center located in historic Lincoln Square, presents Blue Angel Cabaret, an annual event to benefit the fine arts programming. The event features cabaret performer Elizabeth Doyle singing German and French music in "Cabaret during the German Weimar Republic." The one night only special event, Saturday, February 27, 2010, starts at 8:00 p.m. with the performance at 9:00 p.m. The benefit will be held at the DANKHaus, 4740 North Western Ave.

Elizabeth Doyle and pianist/accordionist Don Stillie will evoke World War II Berlin replete with the songs of Marlene Dietrich, Edith Piaf and other 1930's/1940's hits in German, French and English. The event, to take place is the beautiful Skyline Lounge at DANKHaus, is open to the public. Tickets, $35, can be reserved by calling 773-561-9181. The elegant evening of music and conversation includes a glass of champagne and hors d'oeuvres and features a silent auction of three donated original works of art by Chicago based-artists Susan Barton and Ed Ott.
Elizabeth Doyle was recently a featured guest on legendary Marian McPartland's National Public Radio show. She performed for many years at Chicago's famed Pump Room, the Drake Hotel, Convito Italiano, the Palmer House, the Swiss Hotel, Catch 35, the Whitehall and the Fairmont Metropole. Doyle is an award winning composer and an After Dark Award recipient for cabaret performance. Her solo shows have included "Hot Jazz Euro Style" at Davenport's, "Hollywood Blondes" at New York's Metropolitan Room, and "Dakota Blonde: The Lyrics of Peggy Lee" at Skokie Theatre. Her group shows have included "LeGrand Night" at the Wilmette Theatre, a Richard Rodgers tribute at the Storefront Theater and a Johnny Mercer show at Drury Lane Water Tower Place Theater. She has also performed in Paris, Duesseldorf and Wiesbaden, Germany.
