The beloved family classic THE WIZARD OF OZ opens April 25 and runs through June 16 at Drury Lane Theatre Theatre for Young Adults, 100 Drury Lane. Multi-Jeff Award winner Rachel Rockwell (The Sound of Music, Sweeney Todd,Ragtime, and Miss Saigon at Drury Lane Theatre), who was named "Best Director" by Chicago Magazine in 2010, will direct the production.

Based on the Academy Award-winning 1939 film, THE WIZARD OF OZ is the story of young Dorothy, who lives in Kansas with her Aunt Em, Uncle Henry and her dog, Toto. When a tornado strikes their farm, Dorothy and Toto are transported somewhere over the rainbow and into the magical Land of Oz.  In Oz Dorothy meets a colorful assortment of Munchkins, the Good Witch Glinda, and the Wicked Witch of the West.  Dorothy sets out for the Emerald City, hoping that the powerful Wizard of Oz will help her find her way home.  On her journey down the Yellow Brick Road, Dorothy meets a kind Scarecrow who wants a brain, a Tinman who is looking for a heart, and a Cowardly Lion who is seeking courage.  These unlikely friends must face their fears to help Dorothy and Toto and save the people of Oz from the Wicked Witch of the West. Featuring a score with favorites such as "Follow the Yellow Brick Road" and "Somewhere Over the Rainbow," THE WIZARD OF OZ will remind audiences of all ages that there really is "no place like home."
