Courtney Crouse Announces Cast for Chicago Premiere of HONKY TONK ANGELS

Director Courtney Crouse has announced his cast for the Chicago premiere of Honky Tonk Angels - a book musical by Always... Patsy Cline writer Ted Swindley incorporating some of country music's greatest hits into a story of three women who form a country music singing trio. The three-woman cast will be a power trio of Chicago musical theatre performers all coming off high profile roles in past months.

Colette Todd, who most recently starred as Diana in BoHo's Next to Normal, returns to Theo Ubique for the first time since her Jeff-award winning turn as Clara in Passion. She's also known to Theo audiences for her Jeff-nominated role in Aspects of Love. Jacquelyne Jones won kudos for her portrayal of Heather Chandler, the leader of the trio of mean girls in Kokandy Productions' Heathers last spring and understudied in Writers Theatre's Company, this past summer. Leryn Turlington came to the attention of Chicago theatre audiences in a big way last winter, playing Kim McAfee, the Ohio teenager chosen to receive "one last kiss" from Conrad Birdie in Bye, Bye Birdie at Drury Lane, where she also previously performed in Irving Berlin's White Christmas and understudied the leading role of Betty Haynes.

Crouse has previously directed Theo Ubique's A Marvin Hamlisch Songbook and co-directed An Anthony Newley-Leslie Bricusse Songbook. The creative team also includes CameRon Turner (choreographer), Jeremy Ramey (music director), Adam Veness (scenic designer), Bill Morey (costume designer) and (James Kolditz) lighting designer.

The perfect follow-up to Ted Swindley's Always Patsy Cline, a hit for Theo Ubique in 2014, Swindley's Honky Tonk Angels combines country hit songs combined with a hilarious story about three gutsy good ole gals who follow their dreams to Nashville. Taking its title from Kitty Wells 1951 song, "It Wasn't God Who Made Honky Tonk Angels," the score includes 30 classic country songs including "Stand by Your Man," "Coal Miner's Daughter," "9 to 5," "I Will Always Love You," and "Harper Valley PTA." BroadwayWorld called it "a charming, foot-stompin' musical" with "a hilarious story." This upbeat, all-family musical will play through the holiday season.

All performances will be staged in the intimate No Exit Café, 6970 N. Glenwood Avenue in Rogers Park. Single tickets will be put on sale on November 1.
