B-Anne Productions is proud to present "The UnderGround Effect," a world-premiere play that explores social norms, cultural identity, and interracial love. "The UnderGround Effect" performs for Saturday, November 8, 2014 at 7 pm and Sunday, November 9, 2014 at 2 pm.

Tickets are $15 general admission, $12 for students, and $10 for seniors and can be purchased at gorillatango.com/bucktown or by calling 773-598-4549. All performances take place at Gorilla Tango Bucktown, 1919 N Milwaukee Ave, Chicago, IL 60647.

Based on real-life events, "The UnderGround Effect" is a whimsical dramedy that takes on heavy subject matters with a light heart. Prom is just around the corner, and Jakira is running out of time to find a date. A seeming miracle occurs when she finds out that the finest prom date possible is available: the quarterback of the football team. But, he is White and she is Black. Ridicule, prejudice, and harsh rumors don't stop these two from falling in love, and not even their families can tell them otherwise. Convinced they are meant for each other, Jakira is sure she is on the right path until a serious epiphany makes her reconsider all of her decisions.

Interracial marriage across the United States has reached a record high, according to a 2010 census. Approximately 8.4% of marriages today fit into this category. Many sociologists claim it is a movement toward a post-racial society, but race remains a category that defines both personal and public life in America. "The UnderGround Effect" explores this theme through a contemporary, accessible lens.

"The UnderGround Effect" features Ashley Walton, Ryan Kordana, and Chicago-based actor and producer DeShun Robinson. Playwright and director Berylanne Lynch is from Zion, Illinois. Past credits include "Corpus Delicti" with MadKap Productions (Assistant Director), "A Chorus Line" with The College of Lake County, and independent short film "Out of Range."

B-Anne Productions produces plays and films that address controversial issues in society. Now in its second year, B-Anne Productions is based out of Lake County, Illinois.
