16th Street Theater is now seeking to collect "Letters from Dad" from the local community. The theater will choose excerpts of some of these letters to be read them aloud in an event at FitzGerald's, 6615 Roosevelt Road in Berwyn on Wednesday, March 4 at 7:30 PM.

The Letters from Dad event will be a one-night-only performance as part of the theater's Season Eight 2015: Fathers, Daughters, Mothers, Sons. The performance wishes to include diverse voices from local neighborhoods by welcoming submissions from across Berwyn and the local community. It also hopes to further explore the season's theme of the most intimate of relationships: that between a parent and a child.

"It surprised me how much one letter from my father communicated his personality, his dreams, and his life," shares Ann Filmer, the theater's Founder/Artistic Director. "I have collected letters from him over the years, and it occurred to me that other people in this diverse community may also have special letters from their fathers. This event is a unique opportunity to share these historical documents in an open, artistic dialogue with our neighbors."

The theater is seeking participation by accepting local "letters from dad" from all years, cultures, and languages. Those letters that are selected to be read aloud at the event also receive two complementary tickets to the performance. Letters may also be read anonymously, if preferred.

To submit a "letter from dad," please drop off copies of handwritten or typed letters ("emails from dad" not accepted) from any year in any language to: North Berwyn Park District, 1619 Wesley Ave., Berwyn, IL 60402 or scan and email to lettersfromdad@16thstreettheater.org by February 23.

Letters from Dad will be performed on Wednesday, March 4, at FitzGerald's at 7:30pm. Doors open 6:30 PM. Though the event is primarily presented for "100 Club" subscribers, the theater also has limited tickets available to the public for purchase at $18 each.

16th Street Theater, led by Founder/Artistic Director Ann Filmer, is proud to be a program of the North Berwyn Park District, led by Executive Director Joseph Vallez. As Berwyn's only professional theater, the theater is dedicated to inclusivity and affordability. The theater is proud to be an Equity theater with a top ticket price of just $18 ensuring excellent, diverse, and affordable theater to all.
