STAGE TUBE: Blumenthal Performing Arts and Teen City Stage to Kick Off Team Broadway

Blumenthal Performing Arts and Teen City Stage are thrilled to bring a musical theatre skill-development program for intermediate to advanced level teen performers to the Charlotte area: Team Broadway! Click below for a video!
In weekly training sessions instructed by the award winning, professional directing team of Linda Booth and Lori Anne Sword, students will employ a variety of musical numbers to strengthen vocal, dance and character development skills. The Team Broadway fall semester will culminate with students performing in a Broadway theatrical repertoire showcase at Blumenthal's Booth Playhouse on December 4 and 5 to which industry professionals and BFA college recruiters will be invited.

"We are very excited about offering this new program to Charlotte area students who are serious about increasing and sharpening their performance skills", said Ralph Beck, Director of Education for Blumenthal Performing Arts. "We also believe musical theatre programs and productions of area high schools will benefit significantly because of the extra training being done by their respective students.

The inaugural fall session of Team Broadway is under the musical direction of Charlotte's very own Bill Congdon, who was most recently Musical Director for the national and international tours of Billy Elliot as well as Musical Director and Conductor for the national tour of Mamma Mia!

"We are so honored to have Bill Congdon at Team Broadway this semester", said Lori Anne Sword, Artistic Director of Teen City Stage. She added, "The kids will learn so much from him. His own roots in Charlotte and incredible success will inspire them to reach for their highest goals."

Team Broadway class sessions take place at Blumenthal's Spirit Square on the corner of 7th and College Street, and culminate in two showcases on December 4 and 5 at Blumenthal's Booth Playhouse.
