Touchstone Theatre presents Fresh Voices: ReEvolution, two evenings of original theatre performed, directed, and devised by the 2012-2013 Apprentice Class, on February 22 and 23, 2013 at 8pm. Fresh Voices is an annual showcase created by Touchstone Apprentices featuring original solo and ensemble works. This year, Kathryn Krull, Kyle Lewis, Kayla Prestel, and Gary Warren share their unique artistic visions, push boundaries, and break the rules of what it means to "make theater."

Using the power of sound and movement to tell stories, the four original solo pieces and one ensemble piece take the audience on a journey, where they meet a girl with a rubber chicken, an expert jellyfish scientist, and a man who has lost his sight. Having worked under the professional ensemble's guidance, the apprentices now have the chance to explore the creative process independently.

Touchstone's Apprentice Program selects emerging and transitioning artists to study with the company for a season and learn about the artistic and administrative life in a professional, ensemble theatre. Over the past twelve years, Touchstone has graduated over 60 theatre artists from its program with over a decade of Fresh Voices productions.

This year's apprentices hail from different cities and diverse backgrounds. Their spectrum of theatrical experience is vast, but they all share a passion for theatre and communicating on stage.

"People can forget the living aspect of the stage," says apprentice Gary Warren. "It has an edge, The Edge of the present moment, that edge of your seat where you feel anything can happen."

The apprentices spent the first four months of their training in classes, rehearsals, educational outreach, on stage, and behind the scenes. After working closely with the Touchstone Ensemble on two original productions this season, the apprentices are ready to take what they have learned and create a show that is their own.

Touchstone Theatre's season is sponsored by First Generation, an integrated marketing communications company.

Fresh Voices: ReEvolution runs February 22 and 23, 2013 at 8pm. Performances are held at Touchstone Theatre (321 E. 4th St. Bethlehem, Pa 18015). Tickets are Pay-What-You-Will at the door with a suggested $10 donation, or can be purchased in advance for $10 on the theatre's website, www.touchstone.org, or by calling 610-867-1689.
