THE WIZARD OF OZ Returns to Gettysburg Community Theatre, Now thru 3/10

The Gettysburg Community Theatre, located at 49 York Street within the first block of Lincoln Square in downtown Gettysburg, presented six sold out performances last month of the musical The Wizard of Oz based on the MGM classic film. Due to its popularity and just in time for the premiere of the new Oz movie, GCT has extended the run of its production of The Wizard of Oz to offer four more performances for the public today, March 8th and 9th at 7pm and March 9th and 10th at 2pm.

Tickets are $11 reserved seating and can be ordered online at www.GettysburgCommunityTheatre.org or by calling the theatre at 717-334-2692. Seating is reserved and this is the perfect show for children of all ages.

The Wizard of Oz is based on the book by L. Frank Baum and follows Dorothy Gale's adventures over the rainbow and down a yellow brick road where she meets friends Scarecrow, Tin Man and Cowardly Lion. Together, they must defeat the Wicked Witch of the West and meet the great and powerful Wizard of Oz. The current cast at GCT includes 40 local children in all of the roles including munchkins, winged monkeys and talking apple trees. The children's musical is directed by Hans Schroeder and Kyleigh Grim with choreography by Chad-Alan Carr.

Other upcoming performances at GCT include "That's Entertainment!" GCT's 2013 Gala at the Gettysburg Hotel March 15th, Once Upon A Time (a Disney concert) April 5th and 6th at 7pm, Dora The Explorer LIVE April 25th-27th, and auditions by appointment will be held at GCT at for ages 4-18 plus adults for upcoming musicals: Grease, The Civil War, The Children of Gettysburg (a new musical), and America The Beautiful!
