PINKALICIOUS to Return to the State Theatre, Feb 2

Pinkalicious can't stop eating pink cupcakes despite warnings from her parents. Her pink indulgence lands her at the doctor's office with Pinkititis, an affliction that turns her pink from head to toe - a dream come true for this pink loving enthusiast. But when her hue goes too far, only Pinkalicious can figure out a way to get out of this predicament.

The one-hour musical, with book and lyrics by Elizabeth Kann and Victoria Kann and music, lyrics and orchestrations by John Gregor, is based on the popular children's book Pinkalicious by Elizabeth Kann and Victoria Kann.

Victoria Kann is the award winning illustrator and author of the picture book series featuring the whimsical and effervescent character, Pinkalicious. Victoria co-authored and illustrated the first two books, Pinkalicious, Purplicious as well as the play, Pinkalicious The Musical. She wrote and illustrated Goldilicious and is working on several more books about the adventures and antics of Pinkalicious.

The Pinkalicious character was inspired by Victoria's real life daughters - two girls with vibrant imaginations who love cupcakes, dress up, playing princess, and all things pink. Recently Victoria's husband, a toy designer, built a tree house for their Princess Pinkerbelles. She often hears galloping in the house and wonders if it's Goldilicious or just her Pinkerbellas.

Elizabeth Kann is a doctor who has yet to see an actual case of Pinkititis. She co-authored the text of Pinkalicious, Pinkalicious The Musical and Purplicious with her sister, Victoria Kann. Her writing has appeared in a variety of newspaper and print publications. She lives in Pennsylvania with her husband, who is also a doctor, and their three children.

Vital Theatre Company is a community of artists who believe that a shared theatrical experience profoundly affects people's lives. We create stories that challenge our audience to ask questions, make discoveries and engage in dialogue.

Vital was founded in March of 1999 with the goal of creating a safe home to nurture emerging theatre artists - and that vision has blossomed. Now in its thirteenth season, Vital Theatre Company moved into its spacious new Upper West Side home at the McGinn/Cazale Theatre in November of 2004. Previously, Vital performed at our two intimate spaces on Theatre Row in midtown Manhattan. Since its founding, Vital has presented over 75 original productions for over 300,000 children and their families.
