York Little Theatre will present the Roald Dahl classic JAMES & THE GIANT PEACH, today, May 16-18 and 23-25.

The audience will be transported into an unlikely world inside a humongous peach with hilarious characters James meets along the way, including the wise Old-Green-Grasshopper, the pessimistic Earthworm, and James' mean Aunt Spiker and cruel Aunt Sponge who come to a suitably sticky end in this Roald Dahl classic. The play is a fantasy of anyone who has ever dreamed of escape. The colorful story reveals the wickedness of some, the goodness of others, and the indecision encountered by many when they are faced with the point of no return. Roald Dahl, the author of the original book, has written other popular classics such as CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY and MATILDA.

Directed by Paige Hoke with set design by Ray Olewiler, JAMES & THE GIANT PEACH will entertain people of all ages as the giant peach rolls onto the YLT studio stage. The show is performed by both adults and children. The studio setting creates an entirely new experience as the actors perform on the same level as the audience. The experience will make the audience feel as though they are part of the story. The costumes and props will also have a steam-punk feel giving the story a Victorian flavor.

JAMES AND THE GIANT PEACH runs May 16-18 & 23-25. The curtain goes up at 7pm. Sunday matinee's curtain is at 3pm. Regular ticket prices for this show are $17 for adults and seniors and $12 for students and children (17 and younger). New this year is a $2 discount on tickets if purchased prior to opening night. Call the box office at 717-854-5715 or go to www.ylt.org to ensure your seat for this extraordinary theatrical event for the entire family.
