Bruce Moore and Kathy Moore McDougall to Lead Gettysburg Community Theatre's 2015 Summer Camps

Gettysburg Community Theatre (GCT) the not-for-profit 501c3 community theatre in downtown Gettysburg, located inside the old Elks Lodge at 49 York Street, will once again offer their exciting and fun summer theatre day camps every week in July.

Broadway veterans Bruce Moore and his sister Kathy Moore McDougall will be teaching at the GCT summer day camp program this July along with GCT Founding Executive/Artistic Director, Chad-Alan Carr, guest artist Eric B. Mota from NYC, and staff of the community theatre. The day camps are held at GCT located within the first block of Lincoln Square at 49 York Street in downtown Gettysburg, PA. Full Day Camps -Ages 7-16 are available for $150 per week while Half Day Camps -Ages 4-6 are available for $75 per week.


The schedule for the summer day camp program includes:

July 6-10, 2015 9am-Noon. Half Day Camp Week 1 Fun With Dr. Seuss

This morning session camp introduces storytelling skills using a series of favorite Dr. Seuss stories. Students will focus on creating characters using creative dramatics, mime and gestures and facial expression to express emotion and use their imaginations to recreate some Dr. Seuss favorites with music, movement, crafts, and games. Bring a small snack daily and dress comfortable.

July 6-10, 2015 9am-4pm. Full Day Camp Week 1 Broadway Showstoppers

Learn songs and dances from Bruce Moore, a professional musical theatre performer from Broadway`s Gypsy, Grease, and My Fair Lady, as well as a singer in FIVE different Disney animated feature films including Aladdin. Students will perform WITH Bruce in his cabaret show here at GCT at the end of the camp week Friday evening. Bring snack and lunch daily and dress to dance and sing to wonderful Broadway tunes.

July 13-17, 2015 9am-Noon. Half Day Camp Week 2 Princess Whatsername

Fairies, Princesses, The Three Bears, Royal Servants, Villagers and more all help Snow White, Rapunzel, and Cinderella find their way into their own stories in this morning session camp which will have students learn songs and dances from the new musical Princess Whatsername. Students will perform a showcase at end of camp week and will be invited to return to dress rehearsals in September for the FULL musical production (optional). Bring a snack daily and dress comfortable.

July 13-17, 2015 9am-4pm. Full Day Camp Week 2 Princess Whatsername

Students will learn select scenes and songs from the new musical fairy tale Princess Whatsername featuring Hansel & Gretel, Rumpelstiltskin, Goldilocks & Three Bears, Snow White & Seven Dwarves, Cinderella & Fairy Godmother, Rapunzel, two Kings, a Queen, lots of Princes and even more Princesses. ALL in one show. WOW! Students will have a preview showcase at end of camp week and will be invited back to dress rehearsals for the actual production in September should they want to be in the FULL show.(Optional.) This camp week is different from camp week 3 as it will be different scenes and songs. Bring snack and lunch daily and dress comfortable.

July 20-24, 2015 9am-Noon. Half Day Camp Week 3 Once Upon A Time

In this morning session camp, students will all become royal princess and princesses to explore theatre arts through music and movement, and creative dramatics, using crafts and games to open up their imaginations as they learn songs and dances from the new musical Princess Whatsername. They will perform a showcase at the end of the camp week and be invited to return for dress rehearsals in September to be in the FULL musical production as well (optional.) Bring a snack daily and dress comfortably.

July 20-24, 2015 9am-4pm. Full Day Camp Week 3 Snow White Meets Goldilocks...And they Sing & Dance?

With musical theatre instruction by NYC teaching artist Eric B. Mota, students will learn scenes and songs from the new musical Princess Whatsername that features just about every fairy tale ever written with lots of opportunity for acting games, singing and dancing in a relaxed beginner/intermediate theatre camp experience. Students will perform a showcase at end of camp week and will be invited to return if they wish to dress rehearsals for the FULL musical in September. (Optional). This camp week WILL be different from Camp Week 2 Princess Whatsername as it will be different scenes and songs. Bring a snack & lunch daily and dress comfortable.

July 27-31, 2015 9am-Noon. Half Day Camp Week 4 Explorer Camp

What to do with all that creative and dramatic energy? Channel it into directed theatre arts. Exciting games, stories, music and movement will inspire character exploration, teamwork, motor skills, and imagination. This low pressure morning session camp will ease a child into comfortably speaking in front of people and working in a group with songs and characters from favorites such as Dora The Explorer, Blue`s Clues, School House Rock and more. Bring a snack daily and dress comfortable.

July 27-31, 2015 9am-4pm. Full Day Camp Week 4 Broadway Bound

Learn songs and dances from Broadway musicals from professional musical theatre performer Kathy Moore McDougall from the Broadway cast of A Chorus Line and Broadway National Tour of South Pacific. Students will perform WITH Kathy in her Cabaret at the end of the camp week Friday evening. Bring a lunch and snack daily and be dressed to dance and sing all day to wonderful Broadway tunes.
