It's hard to forget the classic movie for all ages, Big. Tom Hanks played the title role of Josh Baskin who, as a child, wished he was 'big'. From there, Josh had to live with his wish and find out what being 'big' truly meant. This 1988 movie was then written into a musical and is currently running on the stage at The Fulton Theatre through the Eichmann Family Series productions.

The Eichmann Family Series is a way to introduce children to the theatre. It serves as a gateway to the theatrical world and creates an environment that kids would want to return to. The shows for this family series are only an hour and ten minutes so that the kids do not lose focus. The shows that are produced also appeal to children such as a fairytale or, in this case, with a story that all children wish for: being big.

Featuring a cast of 24 kids and adults, the story is brought to life. Kevin Murray stars as Josh Baskin alongside Gabrielle Harker as Susan. Timmy Woodward Jr. plays Little Josh and his best friend Billy is played by Max Bartos. Furthermore, Macmillan is played by Robert Bigley, Paul is played by Jay Poff, and Mrs. Baskin is played by Maria Albani-Cook. The whole production is directed by Randall Frizado, musically directed by Jonathan Lefever, and stage managed by Rebekah Church. Finally, the musical includes adult and teen ensemble as well as an ensemble of ten kids who I am honored to be a part of! Overall, Big the Musical is comprised of wonderfully talented actors and actresses who express the story beautifully.

Big the Musical suits all ages and tells the same classic story as the movie. This time, though, adding in some singing and dancing! Big the Musical is a high-energy, enjoyable, and overall FUN show that you do NOT want to miss! This musical will make you smile, cry, and certainly laugh all while introducing theatre to children. Big the Musical runs every Saturday at the Fulton Theatre in Lancaster, PA at 11:00 am until July 22. Hope to see you there!
