Sorry for the late update but things are in full swing here at the barn. I am finishing up the first week of rehearsals for Peace Love and Cupcakes! The main stage show Smoke on the Mountain opened this week! (It's fantastic) The first show downstairs began rehearsals and it already sounds amazing! Everything is in full swing and the barn is busy once again.

This week I helped hang lights in the courtyard space with Matt! It was an experience hanging lights around two occupied bird nests, but we managed to accomplish this with not getting pooped on!

My family and I adopted an intern for the third season in a row. The adopt an intern program is when you give an intern a surprise gift every week. It could be something they need that they forgot at home, a gift card. Things like that. This year we adopted Amanda! Each year I end up choosing who I adopt. I chose Matt last year because he was always the first person who would welcome me to rehearsal. Two years ago I chose Christa because she was nice and always made everyone smile. This time I chose Amanda because we awkwardly shook hands and introduced ourselves in the dark lobby... (Which is something I would do!) So I knew she was the one! You always make friendships for the season... then they go back home. You know unless you name is Matthew Spencer... We know how that turned out!

I saw the company preview of Smoke on the Mountain! It was fantastic. I could never play an instrument and sing at the same time for two reasons. Number 1 I don't play guitar... and Number 2 I play the clarinet... (It is impossible to sing and play that at the same time!) Later that night I helped usher the senior preview. I helped seat and take tickets for the show. I always like to help out where ever I can! Ushering is my favorite because it is different every time and not one night is the same.

Peace love and Cupcakes is in full swing and getting off book is just a wonderful time! Once we block a scene it is expected to be off book the next day! So when I go into rehearsal tomorrow and Matt goes "why are you not off book?" I can reply "I was writing my blog like you told me too!" The changing weather pattern is not good for me and my allergies! Singing, stuffy noses, mucus, and weather does not mix well. It has been a struggle, but I know it will settle down.

So this concludes this week's blog on the barn! So many things are happening and opening! So this gives you an excuse to run down to Millbrook and check everything out! If you are new come down and check it out! You will not be disappointed. You can check everything out at http://www.millbrookplayhouse.org/

Story Time!
Back in 2006 when I was doing the theater camp. That year it was Broadway themed. My friend and I were singing Tomorrow from Annie! (We are 6) then we start singing different verses and we got lost in the middle of the show. Then I look over and our director was offstage mouthing the lyrics to us. I will never forget it as it was truly something to remember... (Thanks Michael!)
