Ten-piece, all-female, all-Norwegian brass ensemble tenThing, lead by trumpeter Tine Thing Helseth, will make their first tour the U.S. in March 2017, bringing its acclaimed blend of musicianship and showmanship to South Dakota, Minnesota, California, Virginia, Pennsylvania, New York and Indiana.

The group will perform its signature arrangements of music by Weill, Bizet, Grieg, Piazzolla, Mozart and more, which have thrilled audiences around the world, and which the group recorded for their debut album Ten on Warner Classics.

tenThing is the brainchild of trumpeter Tine Thing Helseth, whose awards included being named one of BBC Magazine's "Superstars of Tomorrow," Echo Klassik's "Newcomer of the Year" 2013, the 2009 Borletti-Buitoni Trust Fellowship, "Newcomer of the Year" at the 2007 Norwegian Grammy Awards (the first classical artist ever to be nominated), and second prize in the 2006 Eurovision Young Musicians Competition.

In addition to the group tour, Tine will give three solo performances of the Hummel Trumpet Concerto with the Madison Symphony Orchestra on March 10, 11 and 12.

Formed in 2007 by Norwegian trumpeter Tine Thing Helseth, tenThing are rapidly establishing themselves on the international scene. The ensemble works closely with Norwegian guitarist and arranger Jarle Storløkken, who arranges many of their scores and enables them to play the music they enjoy, regardless of the original instrumentation.

Since first forming, the group have performed all over their native Norway, and delighted a huge audience by opening the 2011 Norwegian Grammy Awards. Elsewhere in Europe, they have performed at the Rheingau and Bad Kissingen festivals in Germany, the Chester Festival in the UK, La Foce in Tuscany, and at the NCPA Beijing May Festival.
