Franklin Stage Company is pleased to present actor and US Army veteran Stephan Wolfert in his one-man tour de force Cry Havoc! July 7, 8, 9 at Chapel Hall. The show, written by Mr. Wolfert and directed by Eric Tucker, is a unique piece that artfully weaves some of Shakespeare's best known war speeches into a visceral and deeply personal account of war, trauma and healing.

Having served in the US Army, 1986 -1993, as a Medic & Infantry Officer, Mr. Wolfert left a career in the military for a life in the theatre after seeing a production of Shakespeare's Richard III. He went on to study classical acting at Trinity Repertory Company and embarked on a successful acting career. He is a member of the renowned Off-Broadway Bedlam Theater Company and has performed roles in Bedlam's critically acclaimed productions of The Seagull, Sense & Sensibility, Hamlet and Saint Joan.

"We are thrilled to be opening our performance season with Stephan's work," said FSC Co-Artistic Directors Patricia Buckley and Leslie Noble. "As this is our first season at the helm, we wanted to open with a play that embraces FSC's classical tradition, but also appeals to people who may not be inclined to attend theater. Cry Havoc! reaches in both directions."

Noble continued, "In Cry Havoc, the highs and lows of Stephan's life, both in and out of the military, are laid bare with brutal honesty, self-deprecating humor and empathy. For those familiar with Shakespeare's words, his stirring performance brings a surprising immediacy; and for those familiar only with the experiences they describe, it brings the power of their poetry.

Cry Havoc! has toured the US for the last 4 years and received wide-acclaim from the Boston Globe which called the show "riveting" to the Houston press "magnificent."

On Broadway, Wolfert created and directed the military segments for Twyla Tharp & Billy Joel's Tony-Award winning production Movin' Out and was a character coach for Cirque du Soleil's, Mystere. Currently, he is based in NYC where he is the Director of Veterans Outreach for Bedlam; and the creator of DE-CRUIT--a program to reintegrate military Veterans using Shakespeare, psychology and classical actor training.

Cry Havoc! is funded in part by the A. Lindsey and Olive B. O'Connor Foundation.
