Central Park Dance to Present THE NUTCRACKER at Capitol Theatre This December

Central Park Dance, Westchester's largest dance center committed to cultivating the 21st century dancer, will present a brand new production of Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker, choreographed by Lou Troisi, formerly of the Joffrey Ballet. Students of the school, in addition to young dancers from surrounding Westchester and Connecticut communities will perform one performance only of this holiday favorite, December 11, 2016 at the historical Capitol Theatre.

In addition to delighting in the timeless tale of The Nutcracker, audiences will also enjoy its rich legacy of culture, with dances inspired by Spain, Arabia, China and Russia.

With a legacy of over 30 years, Central Park Dance has been a producer of original ballets for the last decade, inviting their expansive disciplines and levels to participate. The Nutcracker will showcase over 120 dancers, ages 4-50, and will welcome guest professional dancers throughout the iconic story line on the stage of the Capitol Theatre that has been the host to music legends such as Janis Joplin, Traffic, Pink Floyd and The Grateful Dead.

In addition to choreographer Lou Troisi, the production is co-directed by Maria Bai, Artistic Director of the, along with faculty member, Patricia Arenson.

"The Nutcracker has been a timeless classic that is designed for the children" says Maria Bai. "It is such a joy to see the children prepare, their families' support, and the whole school come together in true holiday spirit."

TICKETS and PERFORMANCE TIMES

The Nutcracker will begin at 5:00 p.m. Doors will open at 4:00 p.m.

VENUE INFORMATION

The Capitol Theater is located at 149 Westchester Avenue in Portchester and is accessible by the Metro North New Haven Line to Port Chester. There is limited street parking, and parking in all Capitol Theatre lots is permitted until 1 hour after the performance ends.
