Bethel Woods Concert Announces Return of Bradstan Cabaret Series and PLAY: The Classics

Bethel Woods Center for the Arts continues to grow and diversify programming held in its most intimate venue - the indoor Event Gallery. This summer, the beloved Bradstan Cabaret Series returns with three unique performances featuring Ann Hampton Callaway on July 8, Mark Nadler on August 20, and Scott Samuelson and JeAnne MacDonald on September 16. Then this fall, PLAY: The Classics returns with the Manhattan Chamber Players on September 14, Borislav Strulev and Friends on September 28, and ZOFO on October 19. Tickets for both series go on-sale Friday, May 12 at 10:00 AM at BethelWoodsCenter.org.

About the Bradstan Cabaret Series:
The fifth annual return of The Bradstan Cabaret curated by Scott Samuelson and presented in collaboration with Bethel Woods Center for the Arts marks a dedication to continuing the longstanding cabaret tradition in Sullivan County and the Catskills. Historically, the Bradstan Country Hotel hosted the performances, but moved the location to Bethel Woods in 2013. Tickets for the Bradstan Cabaret Series feature reserved cabaret-style table seating.

"An Evening with Ann Hampton Callaway"

One of the finest singer/songwriters of our generation, the statuesque performer dazzles music lovers as a singer, pianist, composer, lyricist, arranger, actress, and educator. Her talents have made her equally at home in jazz and pop as well as on stage, in the recording studio, on TV and in film. She is best known for starring in the hit Broadway musical "SWING!" and for writing and singing the theme to the internationally successful TV series," THE NANNY". Ann is a devoTed Keeper-of-the-flame of the great American songbook. She brings fresh and original interpretations to these timeless classics and works to uphold the canon by writing songs with Cole Porter, Carole King, Barbara Carroll and others. Her spontaneity, intelligence, and soulful charisma have won her a diverse fan-base including notables as Barbra Streisand, Clive Davis, Carly Simon and Wynton Marsalis.

Mark Nadler "Cole Porter, After Dark"

Cole Porter did most of his writing late at night. Mark Nadler "...a firebreathing monster of uncontrollable, attention seeking talent emphasizing heart as well as heat" (Stephen Holden, The New York Times , April 26, 2016) explores the wit, the passion the romance and the randiness of Cole Porter's late night musings. Looking deeply Porter's various inspirations Nadler goes from the famous list songs such as "Let's Do It", "You're the Top" and "CanCan" to love song such as "In the Still of the Night", "Begin the Beguine" and "Night and Day".

Scott Samuelson and JeAnne MacDonald "Old Friends"

Scott Samuelson and JeAnne MacDonald have been old friends and performing together for the last 25 years. They began singing together when Jeanne joined the staff of singers in the cabaret room at Bradstan Country Hotel that Scott owns and operates with Edward Dudek. Scott and Jeanne love singing together and are thrilled to be returning to the stage at BethelWoods Center after a sold out performance with other staff members in 2015. They are excited to share their brand new show that celebrates cabaret and their friendship through the years.

About PLAY: The Classics:
Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, in collaboration with Shandelee Music Festival, is pleased to announce the second annual return of PLAY the Classics in the magnificent Event Gallery at Bethel Woods. The goal of this series is to encourage and foster young talented emerging artists, help to build and cultivate a younger audience and increase attendance of all ages.

"An Evening of Chamber Music" with the Manhattan Chamber Players

The Manhattan Chamber Players is a chamber music collective of New York-based musicians who share the common aim of performing the greatest works in the chamber repertoire at the highest level. Formed in 2015 by Artistic Director Luke Fleming, MCP is comprised of an impressive roster of musicians who all come from the tradition of great music making at the Marlboro Music Festival, Steans Institute at Ravinia, Music@Menlo, Yellow Barn Chamber Music Festival, Kneisel Hall, and Perlman Music Program, and are former students of the Curtis Institute, Juilliard School, Colburn School, New England Conservatory, and Yale School of Music.

"Cabaret Night" with Borislav Strulev and Friends

Russian-American cellist Borislav Strulev quickly gained a reputation as a musician of exceptional temperament, charismatic personality and virtuoso technique. The great American pianist Byron Janis said of Borislav Strulev: "He plays as if he were to the cello born. His sound, phrasing, coloring and technique already place him in position to follow the Russian tradition of cello playing. Watch this young man, and more importantly, listen to him."

"Electrifying Evening" with Grammy-nominated Zofo

Since joining forces as a professional duo in 2009, internationally acclaimed solo pianists Eva-Maria Zimmermann and Keisuke Nakagoshi - ZOFO - have electrified audiences from Carnegie Hall to Tokyo Japan with their dazzling artistry and outside-the-box thematic programming for piano-four-hands. This Grammy-nominated, prize-winning Steinway Artist Ensemble - one of only a handful of duos worldwide devoted exclusively to piano duets - is blazing a bold new path for four-hands groups by focusing on 20th and 21st century repertoire and by commissioning new works from noted composers each year.
