Trans actress and activist and star of the upcoming second season Hulu's "Difficult People," Shakina Nayfack returns to NYC for her "Welcome Home Show" of Manifest P*ssy! Thursday, June 23 at 9:30pm at Joe's Pub (425 Lafayette Street).

Tickets are $20 and can be purchased by calling tickets: 212.967.7555 or by visiting publictheater.org.

Manifest P*ssy is a journey of trans* liberation that follows the time leading up to and through Shakina's gender transition. Weaving together songs and stories from her previous tour de force solo musicals One Woman Show and Post-Op, Manifest P*ssy blurs the lines between the sacred and profane. Combining storytelling with cutting edge spoken word, and glitter-rock vocals featuring original songs by Julianne Wick Davis, Joel Waggoner, Zoe Sarnak, Joe Iconis, Nikko Benson, Sam Salmond, Michael R. Jackson, Teresa Lotz, Lauren Marcus, Shaina Taub and more!

Shakina's performance at Joe's Pub will end her tour in North Carolina (June 11-19, 2016), which had stops in Fayetville, Raleigh, Ashville, Wilmington, Charlotte, Greensboro, Chapel Hill and Durham (along with a tour of the state legislative building), where she presented Manifest P*ssy in support of the LGBT community and their allies working to combat state-wide discrimination.

Shakina Nayfack is originally from Southern California, Shakina has enjoyed an eclectic career as a performer, director, writer, producer, and social activist. In 2015 she became the first transgender woman to receive a Lilly Award recognizing the remarkable contributions to the American Theatre made by women. Her autobiographical rock musicals One Woman Show (2013) and Post-Op (2015) both premiered to sold-out houses at Joe's Pub, and will be returning to the Public Theater for encore engagements in June, 2016. The shows bookended her groundbreaking KickStartHer campaign to crowd-fund gender confirmation surgery. Shakina was also recently seen in Manuel Versus the Statue of Liberty at the New York Musical Theatre Festival, where she was presented with an Outstanding Individual Performance Award for her portrayal of Lady Liberty. This summer she will be joining the cast of the Hulu original comedy series "Difficult People". Shakina is also the Founding Artistic Director of Musical Theatre Factory (MTF), a volunteer-based organization dedicated to helping musical theatre artists develop and present new work. The New York Times calls MTF "Heart Healing Musical Theatre" in "Broadway's Back Yard." More information can be found at www.MTF.nyc. MFA, PhD, SAG-AFTRA, SDC.
