SPEAKEASY MODERNE Begins NYC Run at Stage 72 Tonight

Beginning tonight, March 28 at 9pm at Stage 72 (158 West 72nd St.), get swept up in the world of Speakeasy Moderne where singers enchant, flappers flirt and dancers dazzle...Set to play the Upper West Side venue each month and hosted by "Official Hank" Stampfl, Speakeasy Moderne is unforgettable evening featuring an intoxicating blend of Jazz Age Manhattan, vaudeville, cabaret and a touch of burlesque.

With songs from the Tin Pan Alley era to the Golden Age of Broadway to today's pop charts and performances from special guest singers, dancers and burlesque stars, the show puts a modern twist on the illicit speakeasy, where high brow and low brow entertainers and audiences mingle, indulging in drink, song and dance. Additional upcoming show dates are April 25 at 9pm, May 30 at 9pm and June 20 at 9pm; evening and cocktail wear is encouraged and audience members are asked to dress in their favorite era from the 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s and beyond.

Singer and songwriter Dina Fanai will be the special guest performer on March 28; Dina has performed throughout the world with the platinum selling arena rock band Trans-Siberian Orchestra, has written and produced for Universal Records USA and Columbia/Japan Records, and was a featured vocalist on Grammy nominated Dave Eggar's CD "Kingston Morning."

The rotating cast of features Ashley Alana Kenney, Julia Burrows, Monica Poulos, Kristin Ewing, Kimberly Schafer and Jackie Washam. The band features Matt Baker on piano and Tim Lykins. Choreography is by Kimberly Schafer. Makeup is by Dex New York Mineral Make-up.

Musical numbers include "Willkommen" from Cabaret, "Rumor Has It" (Adele), "It Don't Mean A Thing" (Duke Ellington) and "Titanium" (David Guetta/Sia).

Master of Ceremonies "Official Hank" Stampfl has traveled regionally and nationally in the North American Broadway tour of Evita, Kander and Ebb's Cabaret, and Hello, Dolly starring Sally Struthers. He has recently released a pop/dance CD produced by Heather Holley (Christina Aguilera) featuring songs "Gonna Get Better," "Life On Stage," and "Feel Good."

Speakeasy Moderne will play STAGE 72 (158 West 72nd Street) each month with March's show tonight, March 28 at 9pm. VIP tickets are $100 each (which includes a champagne reception with the cast before the show and a front orchestra ticket), premium tickets are $50, rear orchestra tickets are $25 and balcony tickets are $15.
