Singer German Rodríguez came to NYC from Monterrey, Mexico and harpist José Luis Rodríguez arrived here from San Juan, Puerto Rico. Rodríguez & Rodríguez are not related except by their wonderful harmonies -- their talent! German was a young student in Mexico singing at his every opportunity. José Luis in Puerto Rico had already begun his professional career, which he then transferred to the States.

Although these two fast friends work mostly as solo artists, a few times each season they get together for a duo show. Tonight is one of those special events. Please join us for an evening of music from Broadway, American Standards and some Spanish favorites, including great composers like Cole Porter, Hoagy Carmichael, and Stephen Sondheim.

German Rodríguez is originally from Monterrey, Mexico. He recently graduated from New School University with a BFA in Musical Theater and from American Musical and Dramatic Academy in 2006. He has done musical theatre in Mexico in productions such as "Rent," "Grease," "Fame," "Beauty and the Beast," and "Footloose." Recent New York credits include "Odd Ducks," "Three Pillows," "Something Outrageous," "Truck Stop: The Musical," and the showcases "Love, Lust and Boybands," and "RSVP." He has also done cabaret shows in venues such as Metropolitan Room, Broadway Comedy Club, Uncle Charlie's, and Don't Tell Mama with great reviews. He can be seen in the upcoming Off Broadway production of Spring's Awakening.

José Luis Rodríguez is the only harpist to be named Outstanding Cabaret Artist of the Year by Backstage Weekly, and to win the 2007 Unique Artist Award from Backstage Bistro In 2010 he joined Beowulf Consort. They have presented concerts in New York City area, most recently at The Bruno Walter Auditorium at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. Last May José Luis presented a Concert of Puerto Rican Danzas at the Museum of the City of New York for the Association for Puerto Rican & Hispanic Culture. Before moving to New York from San Juan, PR, José Luis performed for dignitaries at la Fortaleza, including Mikhail Gorbachev, for the Ricky Martin Foundation, and for Gloria and Emilio Estefan. He also performed regularly at The Caribe Hilton and El San Juan Hotel, as well as The El Conquistador and The Ritz Carlton. When not performing in Concert José Luis has played for many private events, including weddings, charity galas, corporate parties, birthday parties, and bridal and baby showers to name just a few. His repertoire includes traditional wedding selections, traditional Puerto Rican Music, Popular Latin Music, American Pop, and selections from the Great American Song Book.
